NUMBER 2 loved the view witht he corn, and I enjoy trailing shots… NICE WORK

Went with Mike’s. I’ve never cared for going away shots, although I do like the BNSF, and I’ve always liked shots of trains rounding a curve. So Mike’s it is. I just need to get a better lens so I can do such a thing myself…

Noah

Bergie,

Sorry man…had to go with Mike. To date, there’s only one rail photographer I’ve ever seen shots from that could pull off a going away shot, and that was the late Gary Benson. Even the great O. Winston Link couldn’t work a going away shot like Benson. I can’t tell you what’s different in his shots, but he’s the only one I really like.

Mike, great shot. I would have liked to have seen the lead loco from a little more of the side, since the shadow is just a little too much for me on the nose of the loco. That’s getting nit-picky, though. Definately a well composed shot that leads the viewer into the frame, and captures his attention. Well done.

I liked Mikes photo this time, just because of the clarity. The B"NS"F was cool NS in the middle. I liked that, MAYBE BNSF WILL BUY OUT Norfolk SOUTHERN, and want have to change their name at all. we can only HOPE! BNSF can stick them(NS) in the middle that way they can see their name BNSF… LOL

Mike’s photo is this week’s winner for me[:)]. I like shots of trains going around a curve. Also the manifest train coming through the foliage adds something to the photo.I also noticed the first unit was in CPs Pacman scheme[:)].

Like fall being just around the bend, so is the remainder of this train… well poised shot. Each element of the shot leads you to look at something else in it…

Very nice photo Mike, the detail was sharp and had good lighting on along the track, leaves were sharp in most of the tress along the right of way. It is a keeper in my book. I always like head on photos that show great detail including crews in the cab if possible, This photo had every thing that I would like for if I was buying the photo.

Erik’s framing the train with the corn is really quite amazing.

I went with mikes, because i do like shots coming around a curve, and i do have to admit that i like the NS loco in the middle of the BNSF dash 9s, even though i am not a fan of any of the western roads.

I went with Mikes photo this time, Eriks photo looks blury to me.

Erik, I really wish you had waited an installment for your picture. I wanted to vote for it so bad, but Mike’s was just too perfect. Loved 'em both, really looking forward to installment 41!

The western Mustangs seem to mingle everywhere with the Thoroughbreds, it happens a lot in the old Central of Georgia corral here in Columbus, GA. We even get BN green and CR blue, quite a rainbow. Mebbe they RE tryin’ to merge! Sorry, Erik, you got left in the dust 'cause Mike has captured a winner.

I had trouble voting, because I thought both photos were great. I decided to go with Erik’s, because it was an unusual perspective. Both photos are winners.

The corn has lost its relationship to everything as have the locomotives. The locomotives are floating along on a green field without a means of relating to anything.

Rex in Colorado

Mike’s shot gets the vote. Nice to see a vertical shot, sometimes we forget we can turn the camera? Eriks shot is good, I had to ponder a little before I voted.

Went with Mike this time. Just did not like the off center shot .

Erick, you didn’t have a chance with your almost good photo. I’m a NS man and enjoyed seeing that horse in the loco consist. The horizontal divisions are too nearly equal (that means too much corn) and you are compeating with an excellent photo. Mike using vertical format is a refreshing change and perfectly suited to the scene. The mystery of the tracks curving out of the picture adds interest.

Went with mikes shot because trailing shots give great detail shots of engines.

Well the riot act paid off this week for Mike that is a sharp an clear shot. Eriks cut off on the third engine lost something for me, if not for that another close vote.
Lets hope an pray that this winter is nothing like this past summer.
