Train Identification # 432

While helping my Mom clean some things out we found my Dad’s old engine. The cab # is 432 and that is about all I know. It is in bad shape and I am hoping to have it restored. Does this # help to identify it? I can not find any other #'s, etc… on it.

It was mixed in with some American Flyer things. My best guess is that he had both in his set but this appears to be O as it has a center pick up for power. The only tender in the box was an American Flyer.

Thanks!

American Flyer did make O gauge 3 rail trains before AC Gilbert bought the company and switched to 2 rail “S” gauge. What is the wheel arrangement on the loco?

its prewar af O steamer I think a 4-6-2 or 4-4-2 (there were a few variations of each with the same boiler shell).wheel arrangement. It could have had a diecast metal tender. and would have come with saome sheet metal cars either pasenger or freight.

Could be a nice engine if it will clean up or maybe restored if needed.

COOL!
