Any good train shops in Oklahoma City?

Whether you live there, or plan to travel there, the hobby shop index in the back of CTT and MR are probably going to be some of the best in that area. The stores listed pay to be in the index, so they will almost always be in business if you work from a recent issue. Like the yellow pages, I believe they are year long listings, so it is always a good idea to call before schlepping off.
Sorry I couldn’t be more specific. I’ve never been to Oklahoma City, and I don’t have a magazine handy at the monment.
Sorry to report that there are absolutely no good trains shops in Oklahoma City or the entire state for that matter. This is speaking from a three rail perspective.
There was one in Tulsa called Toy and Train Hobby on South Peoria that closed two years ago. It was probably the best in the state. I understand another one opened up in Tulsa but I don’t recall the name.
I believe the one in OKC is called Whistle Stop Trains. The day I stopped by it was closed, so I can’t comment about it.

Well John, that store does appear to be in business, as it is listed in the back of the current MR. As for what stocks in the way of 3 rail trains, I wouldn’t expect much, even though they do list Lionel. Here is the correct link.
As for the one called Whistle Stop Trains, it too is listed in the current MR, but again don’t expect bigtime 3 rail.
OK, here’s the deal:
Whistle Stop is probably your best bet for 3-rail. Decent selection of old stuff as well as newer stuff, mostly Lionel and K-Line. As much HO and N as O so don’t expect an O super store. Address is 1313 W Britton RD, about 3 blocks west of the BNSF Red Rock sub.

Down the road about a mile west, at Britton and Penn (9311 N Pennsylvania), there is the The Hobby Shop. Catering to all hobbies, they do have an operating 3-rail layout and a small, mostly MTH and Lionel selection of O.
Then there is the previosuly mentioned Woodward’s at Memorial and Meridian. About 45% trains, 45% arts and crafts, and 10% models, ships, planes, etc. About evenly spread with O, HO, and N. Mostly Lionel and mostly full price.
There is also a Hobbytown USA at Rockwell and Northwest Hwy, but I haven’t been in a hurry to get there yet.
As an OKC resident, I do my buying like this, FWIW. Track and supplies from the local guys, engines and cars from eBay, mail order, or the December OKC train show.

I agree with the posts. When I lived in Stillwater, there I would go to 3 shops in the state. There was 1 in a mall in OKC, they delt in several hobbies, 1 in Norman, Trains only, and the last one in Tulsa, they also had other hobbies, (I think they were located on Memorial Ave). I did what bigwally did, mail order and train shows for much of my needs.
