Do you have Microsoft Trainsimulator? I used to but our computer crashed [:(!][:(][:O][xx(]and we lost over $100 worth of add-ons.
I’ve got Train Sim, haven’t bought any add-ons but have downloaded a few extra trains from a free download site (www.uktrainsim.com). I’ve been recoding one of them to make it behave more like the real thing - as downloaded it didn’t have the correct transmission or brakes.
Are there any plans for anyone to have a Macintosh simulator game?
I’ve got train sim. I’ve downloaded a couple of new engines and cars from www.microsoft.com/games/trainsim. I tried to download a Big Boy and Challenger but my computer won’t accept it.

Yes, I did in fact that worked. It was neat because when you derailed the engine it would break it three pieces instead of one. I wish I still have it. By the way, on one of your topics you said you where 13, are you a member of the Teen Association of Model Railroaders (www.tamr.org)? If not you should, its well worth the $15.

i want to get a train sim game but i doubt i’ll be able to get one. my computer is a piece of junk so if i do anything i’m guessing it’ll crash or something.
I have the Microsoft Train Stimulator also. I dont have the specs needed to run the game off hand. However, having purchased a new system 2 years ago that was built around the Ti 4600 video card from Geforce 4 with the 128 mb of video memory and a 1600 P4 CPU and about 1 gig of DDR memory. The game will run and not crash.
The issue of addons were a problem until I started using one hard disk for system files, Firewall, antivirus, anti spyware etc etc and the other disk for gaming/server use. The second disk gets the downloads, updates etc etc if there is ever a problem with my system, the damage is confined to the C:\ drive The games and stuff is intact on it’s own disk.
And there is a very big disk of about 200 gig in size which I back up to once a month everything on the computer. After the backup the disk is unplugged and set aside so that it will not be affected by any future problems. Theoratically I can suffer a complete system failure and by simply putting the big disk in and booting up be back in business while I reformat the other two disks on a seperate computer.
I hope these ideas from this post will assit you in being able to run Train Stimulator.
As a personal side note the steam sounds for power in the Train Stimulator are tied to the speed of the engine. I remember that I would close the throttle and open the cylinders for a station stop and the thing will keep chugging as if there is actually power being sent to the cylinders. Actual steam engines were sometimes very quiet.
Maybe the next release will be a bit more responsive to driver input.
