Tulsa Train Show

All,

There will be a train show this weekend (6-7 Mar) in Tulsa, OK. There were advertisements for it in the most recent copies of CTT. I believe it is called The Great Train Expo. It looks to be very fun. There should be many tables and even some hands-on learning opportunities. Kids get in free and there will be some kids’ activities as well.

I’ve kept away from eBay the past month or so to save money for this show. i hope to find some great buys.

I’ll be there looking for swiches I can use on my new layout and a switcher that will go with my 50’s Marx and Lionel. I have steam locomotive’s but looking for diesel switcher thats in my price range. Maybe find some sort of club, will have fun looking anyway.

The Tulsa train show was great today, about 4 or 5 guys selling O and O-27 trains and accessories. Didn’t see any layouts set up,darn, but lots of other gauge’s and a cool pedal train for the kids. Looked real busy and had a nice chat with one of the guys near me. Get in free tomorrow if I can get away but parking was $8:00. Picked up a pair of Marx switches with the controler and a rusty pair for parts if I need for $12:00, those will keep me busy for a month or so.

I just returned from Tulsa. I live in Enid so it is a two-hour drive for me. My son and I spent about 3 and 1/2 hours there and had a great time. I too was disappointed there were no O gauge layouts, but those big Garden trains were something to look at. Those N scale guys had some neat things too.

I picked up two maroon Lehigh Valley 6456 coal hoppers which were on my list. They are nothing fantastic but I feel I got them for a fair price (both for $25). I will post photos of them tomorrow.

I almost bought a TMCC Command Set (12969) for $100, but since I do not have any TMCC locomotives yet I held back. It was NIB and that is the lowest price I’ve seen so far so I’m sure I will regret it. Oh well, maybe next time.

I don’t have an online photo sharing service so I don’t know how else to post photos. I made the two cars I purchased at the show my avatar for now. Joe
