Just got my new Proto 2000 0-6-0 Steamer with DCC and Sound this afternoon. Sweet little engine! But since I am using the cheapo Bachmann EZ Command, not sure I can turn the headlight on? Directions say use F0 or FL function to turn the lights on and off. I don’t have F0 or FL. Any ideas?
Thanks, DON
Try selecting the loco address. Then funtion, then F10, then function again. (?) That works on my EZ.
Hi Don,
push the button for the loco you want. Press the yellow function button (the light of the # loco will blink). push the F10 button to turn on/off light. Push the F1 button for bright/dim light, press yellow function button again. You should be lighting your way and off and running.
This is how the Bachmann EZ COmmand works lights. I know it works on Bachmann locos, not sure about proto, but should.
Hope this helps

Don,
Yep, function button…address “10” button…function button should turn on the headlight. (There’s a lightbulb icon next to or underneath the address 10 button.) When you reverse the engine, the rear light will come on also.

That’s how my EZ works with Digitrax decoders to turn them on/off. It won’t dim them though.
Beautiful!!! F10 works. I love this little engine!
Thank you guys!! and TOM it looks like its going to be awhile before I get my SW-7 back from BLI. Apparently its there busiest part of the year for repairs.
While I am here, another querstion pops to mind. Should these new engines be oiled or do they come from the factory already oiled.
Thanks again, DON
Well, Don, at least you have a locomotive to play with while you wait for your SW7. [:)]
I’ve found the Proto 2000s to be adequately lubricated when they arrive. Unless you audibly hear a squeak of some kind, I think you’ll be fine. If you want, you can “lightly” lubricate the drive rods and linkage with some Labelle oil. I have yet to lube my 0-8-0 and it runs like a swiss watch.
