Two for Tuesday

I’m not sure, Paul. I’ve got a picture of the one that I modeled that was probably taken in the 1970s. Probably post-2000 would be rare, though, because railroads phased out circus-loading of TOFC trains.

That said, for a more modern era or look, you could use a more recent flat car, to make it more plausible. Jim Kelly did this in a Model Railroader article a number of years ago. Here’s a Trains.com article on it (see also MR January 2018 issue):

Hope this helps,

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for your reply and luckily I have that copy of MR, so I checked-out Jim’s Article and had a good read and it proved to be very helpful.

I should imagine that Semi-Trailers are loaded by Intermodal Container Cranes, these days.

Also, in that edition of MR was Project Layout ‘Winston-Salem Southbound’ - always one of my favourite MR Project Layouts and it was nice to see that again too.

Cheers, Paul.

I’m really late to the party, but here goes! “Two! Two Amtoobs! Ah-ah-ah!”

I just added the Amfleet I coach this week. I have a few Amfleet II cars, but those didn’t go online until about 1981, so I’m trying to find Amfleet I coaches. Not a problem to find Phase III and IV paint schemes, but this train is mid-1970s. That means Phase I or Phase II paint. I now have one of each and will keep looking.

Hi, I’ve just hauled the emptied Wheelie-Bins through into the Backyard, so it must be Tuesday.

Here’s a couple of similar Boxcars, which have probably never set a Wheel in NE Indiana, but I like the Liveries and Logos.

Miester, those EMD SD70ACe units are beautiful! Especially on the bridge, and its double heading - AMAZING.

Paul, I respect the box cars, MRL is a or was an interesting railroad, I think some boxcars have gone through Indiana with the BNSF before MRL became independent again (I think)

Love the boxcars, Dennis.

Peter, loving the scenery! It’s giving me Wisconsin Dells kind of vibes

Not going to lie though, most of the stuff on this thread I’m loving, especially the scenery ones, I’m not even that good a modeller.

Thanks, Paul.

These are models by Ajin imported by Overland back in 1997 if I recall.

They also did a run of the same ‘motors’ after they were rebuilt by GE and assigned to the Electric division in New York after 1954.
