Uncoupler magnets and DCC????

Hello all,

Although I haven’t taken the DCC plunge,as of yet. I am however wondering if uncoupler magnets harm DCC circit boards ? You see next month , I plan on getting a 12X24 shed for the new layout. Thus, a new begaining, I’m still pondering the whole DCC thing. Will magnets screw up the boards ?

Patrick

I have had DCC on my last three layouts. I have always used the in track magnets and have never had any type of problem with any type of decoder or either of the systems,Digitrax and MRC, that I have used. I also use the Rix handheld magnet uncoupler, and that has never caused a problem. I have never read about a conflict between magnets and DCC systems, even the stronger under track electro magnets. You should be fine.

RIX handheld magnet uncoupler: somehow in my MRR experience I missed this one. How does it work? Where available?

Thanks, Jon

Nope, your decoders will be fine. Just think, motors are magnetic and they dont harm decoders.

Thank you all for your insight, the day I start with DCC,will be one less thing to stress on.

Patrick

The magnet is fine and should not be a concern.

OK, I have yet to figure out the quote thing and how to use it in a reply.

What I am trying to do is reply to the question on the Rix uncoupler. The walthers link is good. www.rixproducts.com is another place. The uncoupler works great. you put it between the cars and they uncouple. That simple. I tried various types of scewers and derailed more than I uncoupled. With this you do not have to touch the cars, so no problems. Try it.

Re quote: When replying to a message hit quote in upper right hand corner of message you are replying to. That message will appear as lead item on your reply draft. You can edit the quote down once its on your draft(preview) reply. Try playing around with it a bit you’ll see its pretty straight forward. Use preview as means to see how your editing looks.

Re RIX: Got it thanks.[:D] [:D]
