Here is a link to another forum where I posted the photo of a nice work aid when working under a layout.

No doubt some of you can expand on this idea. It might be difficult with carpet floors. You might use larger OD wheels. Have fun.

Thats pretty cool, right now I am using a mechanics creeper. My layout height is 38 in. I might try that. Thanks for sharing Dave
Very nice. I’m not at the benchwork stage yet (a year back into the hobby, but that’s another story). I have some old/crummy kitchen chairs–what I plan on doing, which would accomplish the same thing, is to cut the legs off and put four casters on the leg stubs. The thing I’ll need to be careful of, though, is the back angle–it’s fairly upright, I like your tilted/back angle–seems like it would be more comfortable than being upright. I have a mechanic’s stool in my garage with adjustable height that would work under the benchwork fine, but I think the back support of some kind of modified chair is important when you’re going to be working for fairly long periods of time.

A couple of years ago, there was an article in Model Railroader about making a creeper on a raised frame using a mechanic’s creeper. I think I loaned that issue to someone and never got it back (don’t ya just hate that?). Does anyone have an idea what issue that might have been?
nice! will definitely cut down visits to my chiropractor!
Thats great! It just needs two things, a tool holder on one side and a beer holder on the other.
Actually I have considered a small rolling low work table/cart to hold a couple tools on rollers that can easily be moved. Anything attached to the cart would be in the way most probably. Yes, I have also considered a cup holder as I have spilled cups while using the scooter chair. With four swivel wheels, the chair easily moves in any direction and can knock the cup over.

What about a beer holder on BOTH sides?
Actually I have been thinking of a small rolling table for a few tools and drink holder. I have knocked over some drinks because the chair moves easily with four swivel wheels. An attached table would be in the way. For safety reasons, the chair is low enough so you can roll right out of it and get up at your convenience or when capable.[B)]
I will post some dimensions (for butt size calculations) when I get home. You can add or subtract as necessary. I left off head rest and padding. Did not want to fall asleep in the chair.

The site referenced recently went away. Here is what I did some years ago. You can add whatever you want. I made up my own measurements.
Surplus casters and some scrap plywood. You can make adjustable support, cushions, etc.

Nice! Add some foam padding and some naugahyde or pleather to cover it, and you’ll have a real winner!
