Ok here is another question for you experts. DCC? There is so many DCC items out there… how am I to know which one is best for a medium sized N scale layout. And where can i go online to read more about and understand DCC, i dont understand it very well. Thanks
Go to http://www.wiringfordcc.com to get some good online info. Then, I would also go to your nearest hobby store and look through their selection of books on DCC. If you live too far away to make an easy trip, then you can order books online from Kalmback, the producers of MRR mag and this forum. I hope this helps John.
Unfortunately for those just getting started in DCC, the sheer amount of products available must seem overwhelming. Fortunately, most of the DCC products are pretty good at this point, so going wrong is hard to do. Just remember that no matter what system you decide to use, you can use pretty much anyones decoders in your locomotives. Get out and do some reading online if you can, but be aware that everyone in the forums have an opinion of what they like, so try to use this information accordingly. Once you have an idea what you’re after, try to find a dealer for that product near you and see if you can get a demo. There’s no substitute for a proper test drive in my opinion as this can be an expensive decision and you want as much information about the product you can get before plopping down your hard earned cash… [;)]
Awesome, thanks guys. So well let me ask yall this, what are some of the better quality systems for an N scale setup. I have read that you need to put like a booster type setup every so many feet to keep the power supply steady. I can research all that i want, but id really like to know from real people who do the real thing, know what i mean? I just want to have the best advise i can from the real experts, not a book
Tex,
There are dozens of sites, probably hundreds, on the Internet related to DCC. You can get lost just looking for them. A couple of the more prominent sites have been mentioned above and undoubtedly many more will be listed before long.
I have a group of links on my website related to DCC. They are the ones I used (use) while building the BRVRR. Have a look. The link to my website is in my signature, once there just pu***he LINKS button and scroll down to DCC.
Good luck!
