Union Pacific in Nebraska

Does anyone know of some detailed maps of the routes of the UP RR that go through nebraska. I have looked on the UP homepage and cant find anything I am trying to do some reseach on UP through nebraska but cant find much at all. All of the help would be great full. I am also baseing my first layout on UP in the 1950’s in nebraska.

Have you tried Google Earth or MapQuest? These won’t give you a priinted map, but you can easily trace railroad tracks across the state once you find any beginning point, such as Omaha, and zoom in close using the satellite view.

Another possibility is the Library of Congress railroad maps section. These maps are in printable formats.

Or if you want to do it the old fashioned way, DeLorme makes a Nebraska atlas that is quite detailed. In fact, the official Nebraska state highway map is free and shows rail lines.

On ebay I have purchased old Time schedules of the UP lines. You can get them for $2-$16 off of ebay and they give you a some what detailed map and the times Freight and passengers went through those towns.

Have you gone to Omaha or North Platte? Two big railroad cities should have something in their local libraries or historical societies…
