Union Pacific receives award from ConAgra
In Omaha, several years ago, UP handed over the switching of the ConAgra Flour Mill to Canadian National. BNSF delivers
hopper loads of wheat on the upper level of the mill complex,
while CN handles the processed flour product in pressure-hoppers, and sets out empties. The lower west side of the mill,
where CN operates, has very steep grades. This is known as
“Monkey Mountain” to the switching crew, as they have to apply hand brakes and place a shim on each car.
