Union Pacific"s Colton CA fltover

The photo in the Oct 2013 issure of trains makes the flyover to appear very steep what is the grade?

That has been discussed and photographed extensively in this thread:

I believe it was ‘guesstimated’ to be 1.5 percent. Camera angle sometimes makes it look extremely steep.

Doesn’t the westward climb start just west of the overpass at

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=34.0629,-117.31&hl=en&ll=34.062899,-117.31&spn=0.002453,0.003449&sll=34.062939,-117.309807&sspn=0.001227,0.001725&t=k&z=18

If so, they’ve got a mile to gain… 35 feet over the elevation of the crossing? So the grade is probably 0.6 to 0.7% more than whatever it was before. Doubtful that it’s as much as 1.5%-- wasn’t the grade thru Colton around 0.3% ascending westward?
