UP 4141

UP Bush and Mopac units were southbound on the WC leaving Hawthrone at 1645 on the M-ITBU. UP 4141 was the leader.

Hmmm…another unit I haven’t seen. Maybe Uncle Pete can assign it to the DNC special when it comes to Denver. [}:)][(-D]

Whoo Hoo!!! That’s good news here. Glad they wyed the consist off.

I’m sitting here with the scanner, pre-amp turned on, with the beam turned north-east to listen to trains. I didn’t bother catching her on the way up, but you can bet I will be trackside this time!

Anybody fanning around Oxford??

Phil

let me know when it comes my way. But right now, i got 1995 sitting in Altoona all day, so I’m quite good [:D]

Well, the 4141 and the 1982 rolled by Oxford at about 6:30…Adams about 4:45. Thanks for the coverage on the move, guys!

I had no idea it takes SOOO long for a UP train to get from Itasca to Adams over the CN. Wow…about 28 hours.

Phil

I think an ongoing thread updating heritage engine locations would be cool. When you post your location, it would also be helpful if you included your state in that description. It’s only obvious to those who are local to those locations.

Wisconsin

Well, the 1995 and the 8701 are stuck in Altoona until this weekend for their debut at the CNWHS convention…the 2001 and the 2002 are on the Belvidere Auto trains, in Illinois, and the 4141 and the 1982 should have arrived in Proviso ok.

Will keep it posted…

Phil

Cool. Let’s keep the updates going. Anyone know the whereabouts of any of the other heritage units?

Does anyone know if the 4141 or the 1982 are going to be at Franklin Park Railroad Daze this Saturday? I would really appreciate any information on this. I’ve heard rumors that 1982 is going to be there but nothing really official. I’m starting to think there is a good chance because 4141 normally would’ve been back in Texas by now. Also I’d really love to catch the “Blues Brothers” together again so I hope those get moved into the Proviso manifest pool.

Just an FYI but if you search through aerial views from google earth, you can find 4141, 1982, and the Katy lashed up on the move. Go to Magnolia, TX. Follow the tracks north a couple of miles. Zoom in. You’ll see them traveling southbound. I work in Magnolia and found them by accident.

Fred,

That is an interesting scene captured by the satellite imaging on Google- it’s apparent that the southbound with 4141, et al. is holding the main just past Gazzoli siding in preparation for a meet with a northbound- this holds true when you pan south along the tracks out of Magnolia and lo and behold- there’s the northbound. (I’ve seen them do this multiple times at Hufsmith siding)

This must have been captured two summers ago when the 4141, 1982 and 1988 were holding down the MFWEW/MHOFW assignment as the “Three Amigos”- I am hoping the 4141 will be headed back to TX soon.

Just read on my local group that UP1988 is headed twd KC on the MHOKC dated yesterday 5/15/08

Good hunting you guys !

Is 4141 or 1982 at Bensenville? Just curious, UP sent 1982 to Franklin Park Railroad Daze 2 years ago and 1995 last year. 2001 and 2002 are still on the ABEBE as of yesterday.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just answered my own question, 4141 is at Belvedere and 1982 is at Proviso, so there is a chance 1982 could go to Franklin Park but it needs to leave soon or otherwise don’t look for anything special on display this year. Perhaps 4141 could join 2001 and 2002 on the auto train?

Hey All !

1988 should be in KC by now ! ANYbody seen her ?

UP 1982 was indeed on display at Franklin Park Railroad Daze, UP 4141 is up at Belvedere with 2001 and 2002 still. I’m not sure if all three of them are together.

I read 1996 left Fresno northbound at 15:00 today and tommarrow I will be traveling up the SP main through Oregon (KFalls to Portland) so there is a good chanch I’ll see it.[tup]
