Let’s hear from all of you Union Pacific fans. What do you model etc? What got you interested in the finest railroad ever?[:)]
UP fan roll call, HERE I AM! althuogh i am a big CNW& MIL.ROAD fan,UP is my fav. about 80% of the equipment i have(HO&N) is UP. a couple of reasons i like UP are: they are the oldest opperating RR today, had the largest engines ever made, and i think they were pioneers in testing some of the most AWSOME equipment EVER produced! sure, some of it was huge flops,(remember the alco centuries, ect.)but you gotta give em credit, they did it! so, YES, I AM A UP FAN!
UP, Western Pacific and D&RGW for me… [:D]
Of course I model the transition era, so I can get away with this sort of insanity… [:p]
I’m here, yet another UP fan, I have two SD70MAC’s a DASH 8,a AC4400 and a good ol’ GP40 that are all UP. My layout is a moderen era"N" scale freelance idea of what if there was a mainline to the Oregon coast. I have a picture of me standing next to the UP centinnual loco, when it was here for the 100th anniversary of our Union Station in 1996,here in Portland, that baby is HUGE! If I can find it all post it!!!
“Be specific, model Union Pacific!!”
UP fan here.Model all railroads but UP CSX and CN i am really big on because they might be one big RR someday.
I’ve got a lot of UP stuff. Mostly passenger.
RMax1
I love my 119!!![:D]
I have a great deal of admiration for the Union Pacific…of the past.
Like the Pennsylvania Railroad, UP was also innovative and made siginificant contributions to the railroad industry. The Challenger, Big Boy, The Turbines, DD series, etc. UP ran a good steam program for years, hauling railfan specials. UP chemists also worked with the petroleum industry in improving diesel fuels specially formulated to burn cleaner in locomotives during the 70s and early 80s.
Inspite of its customer relations and operations problems today, UP’s very bright past should not be forgotten.
Even though I don’t model UP, I plan on having at least one HO SD40-2. This locomotive has become legendery and the countless photos of these locos in UP paint during the 1980s, IMHO, helped convey that image well! [8D]
Peace and High Greens.
i model santa fe and union Pacific, thsoe sd90/43 macs are so awesoem i have 3 form kato they are really really cool
Ho scale all the way
I’m not a UP modeler but do have fond memories of seeing UP freights in Wyoming as a kid. We’re seeing a good bit of UP power on the CSX these days.
I like to model all western RR’s, but UP is my favorite and what I concentrate on the most. I also have my own UP forums (see sig), although activity has been a bit slow lately.
Big power in steam, diesel and turbines makes the UP my favorite road to model. I also admire the big steam (cab forwards) of SP and the ATSF Warbonnets.
Though not as much as I used to be, I’m a UP fan. I have an HO SD70M, FEF-3, 4-8-2, 2-8-0, and 0-6-0 all in UP paint.
Even though I’m a DRGW fan, I still love to see some UP freight action roll by!! Especially in Colorado on the Moffat! I usually model DRGW, but I include UP since it’s the main RR that bought DRGW.
I am a fan of UP and a member of the UPHS
I’m a UP fan…NOT!!![:(!][xx(][:(][}:)][:(!][xx(][:(][}:)][:(!][xx(][:(][}:)]
Then you shouldn’t have posted,[:(!][}:)][V][xx(][:(] My very first train set when I was a kid had a UP engine in it. When I first got into trains again a few years ago I was planning to model the UP and bought a few UP Loco’s. I’ve since swithched to a Canadian railroad but I’ll always have some UP cars on my layout.
I am a fan of Union Pacific’s TURBINES, BIG BOYS, 9000S, and their various large diesels (DD’s, ALCo C-855, U50, so on) and that’s pretty much it.

I spent some time in Utah watching the double diesels and turbines work the Walsatch and the steam program continues to be a fantastic resource, but otherwise, my admiration ended when they mutated into the " Yellow Borg". I suppose some UP rolling stock is inevetable on my SP inspired layout.

Well I like the UP but eastern coal hauling has really captured my attention. Maybe cuz I live in NJ about ten minutes away from a CSX branch? I think im going to start modeling the reading in its last days.
