UP logo.

Why did the UP stop useing the WE WILL DELIVER logo for the BUILDING AMERICA logo? Allan.

You are not far from the ivory tower of the UPRR in Omaha. Why not ask the big honchos there as they leave for work or arrive in the morning? [:o)]

Easy the We will Deliver was pulled after they decided to do away with teh old SP operating procedure in Houstan and gummed up the whole UP. Some one in Ohamha figured out that We will deliver was not a good slogan when trains were sitting 2-3 days waiting to get out of a siding all across the system.

I thought the change also had something to do with the change of president following Ron Burns (but maybe that was because of the meltdown?)

SSSSHHHHHHHH! We might get in trouble for discussing it! [:P]

Actually my thought as to why they changed it, They didnt want to add the word Eventually too all thier locomotives.

We will deliver…Eventually

Leave it to you to ask something like that[B)].
Allan.

I seem to remember first seeing the “Building America” service mark in the Spring of 2002 - about six months after September 11, 2001.

Most of the slogans come out of speeches made by the executives. I believe the “We will Deliver” came from a speech by Jerry Davis. The “building America” came from a speech by *** Davidson at the The Newcomen Society.
Talking about the history of the railroad, near the end he says “Ever since the 1860s, Union Pacific has been doing much more than building a railroad. Employees of Union Pacific have been Building America.”

It also ties along with the corporate patriatism after the terrorist attacks as Bob mentioned.
