Hi, planning to go to Folkston, Ga for the third time next weekend and I had a few questions to ask:
Are all of the wildfires in South Georgia completely out?
I have heard that the platform is set up for night train watching. Is this true and does the town have a curfew?
I believe the wildfires are out; they had rain down there a week or two ago.
Don’t know about the night viewing or a curfew. Believe they have a website - should be on there.
The website says “there are floodlights shining on the tracks for night viewing”. I guess you could watch all night.?. That’s what I’m planning on doing anyways.
Sorry would have posted earlier but I have been off trains for a while and been on other fourms. Not sure if the wildfires are out but when I was there no smoke was on the air. There is NO curfew I stayed up all night last April seeing 49 in 20 hours. Only one other person was there besides no problem. The local police check around the area around 8 or 9 but there is no problem with them.

Well, I’m leaving when I get off work in the morning around 7a.m.
That was a pretty awesome trip. 61 trains in 24 hours.

I left Sat. evening right after Auto Train and that SB coal went by. Anything interesting go by after that?
Some interesting things I saw were:
Switcher# 1144 in a 5 locomotive consist.
A full dome car on the end of an amtrak train
a bay window caboose on the end of a 69 car freight.
I have some pictures I will try to put on RRpicture archives tonight or tommorow.
You know what I was in that HS Curve T-shirt. Were you in the Jeep with the GA sticker?
HLCX 6520 ex SBD 8944 went by.
CSX 8954 a SD45-2 was on W856 by its self.
CSX 5501(ES44DC) was also there.
AMTK 506 was on PO53.
A B30-7 lead A773.
CSX 2704 lead Q454.
CSX 8 was on G435.

Yup, that was me. Darn, if I knew that was you I would have introduced myself. I didn’t wan’t to walk up to a complete stranger and ask “hey, are you that guy on Trains.com”? That was my dad and me in the Jeep. Well, maybe well catch up again next time.
Was that a military train?
I was shocked when I saw that one too. It went SB around 7:30a.m. Sat. Morning.
When did this one come through? I’ve always wanted to see some of those low numbered AC44s? The lowest I’ve seen so far was number 18.
On my way home I saw a SB coal with 5115 and 555 heading towards Waycross. Did you happen to see this one?

It’s OK I was thinking you were going to be there after I had got there. We both got mixed up. W856 was a empty military train. I did see T102 with 5115 the only problem was Q212 was in the way of the train so now I can have the train on my list. Thanks for that. Set me up with an e-mail and I will send some pictures or best of pictures that I took. If you can do the same with some of yours that would be great.
