We posted here over the summer looking for suggestions to improve our video for children that we were producing. We wanted to update the board to get all of you up to date. Once again, thank you for all of your suggestions. Here is what we have:
-
After filming all summer, we realized that there is a big difference in Steam Locomotives and Modern Trains. We therefore will offer TWO videos, not the original one as planned.
-
Our first video will be released late November and be dedicated to Steam Locomotives. We have filmed four different steam locomotives up close and with extreme detail.
-
The steam locomotive video will teach:
How the locomotive works - that is from coal, into the firebox, to steam to cylinders.
What responsibilities the Engineer, Fireman, and Conductor have.
How all the controls the Engineer uses are moved
How the Fireman does his job
Operation Lifesaver’s top ten safety lessons
What a repair shop looks like
How to buy tickets to ride the train
Ticket stamping and what it means
And over half the video dedicated to showing live action shots of Steam locomotives in use, drive-bys, into tunnels, over bridges, and through the country[:)].
We believe the steam engine is beautiful and needed a video all to itself. This is going to excite youngsters who want to know how a steam engine works and railfans who want to see beautiful shots of steam locomotives.
The video will be released under the title “Firefighter George and Steam Trains” an we will post here when it is released. Why “Firefighter George” you ask? Our videos teach safety, and who better to talk safety than a fireman.
Please let us know if you have any other thoughts or suggestions. Our Modern Trains video will be out late winter and includes participation from Norfolk Southern, Amtrak, Ringling Brothers Circus Train, MARTA Rapid Transit in Atlanta, Georgia Northeastern Railroad, Operation Lifes
