US rail tour to cover Northeast landmarks

Sounds like fun, but for six to eight weeks’ pay it’ll have to wait for another lifetime.

Cool!, and the price is right.

I didn’t know Ohio is on the east coast. (I know, picky, picky) Maybe “eastern United States” would have been a better (and more accurate) choice of words to describe the extent of the tour.

All big time railroading tours seem to take place in THE EASTERN UNITED STATES. Visit that part of the U.S. OR LIVE THERE, You will understand why…In the southern U.S. where train travel is sparse, people laugh at you if you tell them you are riding AMTRAK…While in DALLAS, TX. on business, when it was time to return home, I ask to be taken to the AMTRAK station…They could not believe me, even laughed…No one traveled by train. Therefore, there will never be a tour

This looks like major competition with the annual NRHS convention. But competition is a good thing and serves to elevate the quality and/or lower the price of the product offered. My railfan cap is off to the organizers! offeredthe

I tried the cmfrrr@aol.com email address and it came back as no good.

Do TRAINS readers think that a comprehensive railroad tour like the one described could be designed to attract the non-railfanning public just like any other historic/cultural tour, to instill a knowledge and appreciation of the role that railroads played in U.S. development? (Of course, photo runby discipline would have to be laid down and enforced!!)

The email address for additional information on this Eastern US Steam Tour is correct as stated in the posting: “cmfrr@aol.com” Several people have called saying that “cmfrrr@aol.com” didn’t work. I guess they all misread the address.

We are now about 75% sold. Thank you, Trains Newswire. As per other posts: Our clients all seem to be serious railfans. And, yes, we will insist on proper photoline etiquette.
