Just went to the USA Trains website and saw that they had posted computer drawn images of all the roadnames, except Southern Pacific because they have a picture of the real engine! They also have a few detail photo’s.
This is a very nice engine. Cant wait till they hit the stores!
Why are there Santa Fe, Union Pacific , Norfolk Southern, Southern Pacific, New York, Susquehanna & Western, Canadian Pacific, and Canadian National?..None of these railroads had SD70MAC’s. Yes, some had some type of SD70-series locomotive, but none of them had SD70MAC’s.
I think USA Trains wanted to make some fantasy schemes and I have no problem with them doing that. They will sell, thats for sure. I might even pickup and Rio Grande SD70MAC.
I’m not sure what the difference is between a SD70MAC and a SD70M. Norfolk Southern has egines #2581-2648 in 4,000hp SD70M and #'s 2649-2700 in SD70M-2. They also have several SD80MAC in road #s 7200-7216. I admit that the finer points of railfanning escape me[:(] so I’m at a loss to instantly tell the difference between the two. All I know is that both of them are one big piece of iron!
Just was talking to Eric on the phone and he said SD70 MAC = ac traction motors where the SD70M is DC even tho they does say it.
Most Ms now are wide nose units.
Its all greek to me.
Whats funny is that I had no interest in the MAC70s even after seeing them at the shows. But after seeing them in a color I like, my mind has changed.
Kinda like seeing your wife at dinner on a Sat night after seeing what she looks like every morning.[;)]
