For years I have been using Photobucket as my Host to Post photos on Model Railroader forums. Something has changed in Photobucket. How does one use Photobucket as the Host to Post photos on Model Railroader Forums? Bob Hahn HhPATH56
Well it looks like you already have an account with photos in it so we’ll get right to the meat of the matter. Hover your pointer over the thumbnail of the photo you wish to post. A gear-like icon will appear in the top right of the thumbnail. Put the pointer on the icon and a menu appears. One selection should be ‘Get Links’. Click that. Your photo will appear on the screen and to the right of it will be a list of links. In my case I select the IMG code line. I click on "IMG’ and the code line turns yellow for a second and says ‘Copied’. Now I go to my document, reply, post, etc and place the pointer where I want the photo and press Ctrl-V on my keyboard and the code line is pasted into my post. You can do the same thing by right clicking your mouse and clicking ‘Paste’. After you click ‘Post’ you’ll see your photo in your post.
what is " ctrl-v " , [:$]
Ctrl-V on the pc keyboard was the paste function back when a mouse was something you killed.
Ctrl C: Copy, Ctrl X: Cut, Ctrl V: Paste, Ctrl Z: Undo, Ctrl B: Bold, Ctrl U: Underline, Ctrl I: Italic
Hold down the “Ctrl” key on the keyboard and press the “V” key.
Hi, HHPATHH56,
This is Russ from Photobucket. We updated our site recently and believe that the changes make for a better, more intuitive user experience, but that doesn’t mean they don’t take some getting used to. I’ll walk you through it.
Step number one: Get a free Photobucket account here, or login to your existing account.
Step number two: Upload your photos to your new Photobucket account.
Step number three: Post your photo into a forum thread. There are two ways to do this, and with Photobucket, they only require one click apiece.
The first way is to use the “Insert Photo” button in the toolbar when you create a new thread or response. First, find the photo on Photobucket in a new tab or window, locate the “Links to share this photo” box to the right of the image, and simply click on the bottom option, labeled “Direct”. Photobucket automatically copies the code for you, so there’s no need to right click and select copy from a menu. Next, open a new thread or response in the forum and click on the Insert Image button. A new dialogue box will appear asking you to enter the URL address for the photo. Simply paste the info you grabbed from Photobucket into the dialogue box and you’re done. Easy.http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo92/photobucket/ImageLinkingWithButton.gif
The other way to post a photo is to skip the Insert Photo button and just use the HTML Code. Find the photo on Photobucket that you want to link to. Then, in the “Links to share this photo” box to the right of the photo, simply click on the se
Or on the Mac use the Command key and C or X or V, etc.
thanks boys ,just want to stay up to date …Jerr
What is wrong with Photobucket is they got rid of the features that made it easy and fast to use.
Way to many steps are now needed. But it works so it is what it is.
Russ - I never had problems until the redo, now if I select a photo like shown in your example, none of the links work, right or left click, doesn’t matter. Have to show the library and then left click on “image” then right click to “copy”. If the “gear” (?) is clicked on, all those links are dead. And sometimes I need to click on “image” a couple of times to get it to activate. Needless to say, I don’t have much good to say about PhotoBucket since the change.
I haven’t had any issues uploading photos FROM Photobucket to this site, but since the “new and improved” Photobucket has taken over, I have an absolute NIGHTMARE loading photos from my editing site ON TO Photobucket itself. Sometimes it takes me five tries before I can get the darned Photobucket site to accept the uploads. The ‘New’ Photobucket may be ‘convenient’ for Computer Geniuses, but for guys like me it’s turned into a pain in the tuchas.
Tom
I have been using Photo Bucket for some years. The techies have made it more difficult to use regardless of what they say. They know it is more difficult to use but will never admit it. Just takes some learning is suppose to cover it all.
Rich
Just admit it, Russ. You felt the need to fix something that wasn’t broken and now it is much harder to use.
What Rich and Dave said in the two previous replies is so true.
Technical “advances” and “improvements” are ruining the Internet experience.
Besides Photobucket, Yahoo is another good example of fixing what ain’t broken.
Besides the Internet, companies like Comcast are guilty of the same thing.
Anyone who has “ungraded” their cable TV service to Xfinity X1 knows what I am talking about.
Rich
P.S. Speaking of technical glitches, I see that our beloved forum is screwing up the post count once again. Jeff, the once leading poster at 23,500, now shows 4 posts. My post count continually goes down, not up.
Often, making something more versatile means adding more steps. This was certainly the case with photobucket’s “upgrade”… (actually retrograde).
The “feature Creature” crawls into all software and websites due to idle IT/programmer guys needing to justify their continued employment. The general mantra is “no matter how good it’s working we can make it work better…I bet…”
Richard
Hey Tom,
That’s strange. Which browser are you using? I have found that most people who have these types of problems are using Firefox. I always use Chrome and Safari and haven’t had these types of issues.
And for the rest of you who chimed in,
I’m really sorry to hear that you don’t like the new Photobucket. But that’s exactly what my job is all about. I’m reaching out to these forums to help where I can and listen where I can’t. I will definitely pass along your frustrations and suggestions to the product development team. They are the ones who determine which features to keep, change, or upgrade, and having our users feedback is really important.
That being said, the more specific you can be about what has changed, why it is worse, and what you would like to see, the better.
Please feel free to keep the recommendations coming.
Thanks,
Russ

Would it make sense to move the feedback discussion to a new thread?
Hi Russ…
I’m using Microsofts Explorer 8 on a windows 7 operating system. As I mentioned before, I had no problems whatever before the redo, now basically dead links for the most part.
Hey Tom,
Thanks for the info. First of all, let me just apologize for not being able to answer your question. I am not a tech guy, so for technical issues there is a lag time while I coordinate with our product team. That said, I just passed along the issue to Adam in Product Development and we are looking into it. I will check back in as soon as I get an answer.
Thanks for being patient.
Russ
I was having the same problem with difficulty copying links and the links not working when I was using Internet Explorer 8. Very frustrating. When i switched to Google Chrome it worked just like the guy from Photo Bucket explained. Just click on the link - it turns yellow briefly and copies it, then you can use your paste function to put it in your post. I was having the same problem you were few days ago and was so frustrated I almost made the same post you did! When I switched to Chrome it all worked fine. Good Luck.
