Hello all,
I want to try a couple waybill programs out there but I don’t know the first thing about how waybills work. Is there any reference material, reading material, faq info somewhere that I can print and read to understand how it all works. I have a good idea, but never having actually used waybills in model operations i’m not sure what steps to take.
Thanks
John
Andy,
Well to not only get a response but a response from the editor of MR! I’m pretty impressed. I happen to have the Mar 94 article but sadly my collection starts in Jan of 94. Is the Mar94 issue available for purchase? Or is the article somewhere on line? MR’s website? Or perhaps NMRA’s website?
Thanks very much for the reply. I will try and absorb the 94 article.
John
I recommend two articles from MODEL RAILROADER by Tony Koester. The first, "Enhanced car forwarding on the Midland Road, " appeared in March 1993, pages 75-81; the second ran a year later, in March 1994, pages 76-79, was called “Improved handling for empty freight cars,” and included I sidebar by yours truly on car service rules and car selection circa 1956. The first article will give you a good basic understanding of how to use car cards and waybills, and the second adds a level of prototype detail that can be overlooked in the basic system.
Good luck,
Andy Sperandeo
MODEL RAILROADER Magazine
Hi John,
to order back issues of magazines we have in stock, go to the Train shops section of this site and then to Model railroader Porductsa. However I jsut looked and March '93 is sold out. However, you can order a photocopy of the article from customerservice@kalmbach.com.
Best wishes,
Andy
