I suppose asking to view a photo would be too much.

Cool! Those PFE reefers have been sitting in Kanab, UT since I was a kid, and I noticed a while back that one was gone. I was wondering what happened to it - now I know… I guess the other is on its way out, too. They both have the roof access hatches for ice loading. There are two others there, both are quite a bit newer but pretty beat up. The original three were set on rails, but the last just had the wheels boxed in and filled with cement. Not what you expect to see in Kanab, which enjoyed the distinction of being the furthest point in America from a railroad station back in the heyday of rail travel.

When my family ran a chicken (egg) ranch in Petaluma, CA, we were known as “The Egg Basket of the World”. Dunno if any eggs were shipped on the P&SR or the NWP.

A-MEN Dan. Some folks don’t seem to get the fact that seeing these stories on E-Mail is about the same as watching Tele-

I hope they restore the other reefer as Pacific Fruit Express, a firm that, thanks to owners UP and SP, has a long history of service to Utah.

Wow, I’ve seen or heard of many old tank cars and box cars being repurposed for stationary use, but a refrigerator car used by a grocery store? That’s a new one.

Definately follow Mario’s link, the car looks fabulous. Should make for a pretty nifty exhibit space. Kudos to everyone involved, including the grocery store for letting the car go.

No photos but plenty of the same “user comments” repeated two & three times in the comments section. This is how it seems to be with nearly every article posted here. It’s been this way since I started reading the “Newsletter” over a year ago. What does Trains’ webmaster have to say about this?

Maybe Walthers can produce a model for us.

FOr you who did n’t see it…our thanks to MARIO SCALZO . Great Photo…
