V & O railroad now gone

to all concerned, the railroad is now completely gone from Allen,s basement I was able to save two large segments one from the orginal V & O railroad. The orginal kellys creek bridge segment which is about 12 feet long and the otto brauer coal tipple and the branch line which is about 14 ft long. These are being incorperated in to the gallopollis div of the V & O being built in Wisconsin and hopefully will be open to viewing during the NMRA convention when it comes to Millwaukee WI. both segments will be marked with brass plaques noteing that they are from Allen,s railroad see you in Millwaukee 2010

the original or the one that allen was building when they put the Virgina and Ohio in… recently

I think that you should probably post this in the Model Railroader forum. Still, it’s sad to hear that the V&O is gone. That was always a model railroad that I loved reading about. I’m glad that some portions of it were saved.

Not to be dismissive, vowi, but your post belongs in the Model Railroader forum. Many of us railfans know about the V&O, but I’m more concerned about news of what’s left of the B&O.

Best of luck to you, though. Either of these forums, Trains or MR, has some fine people, but we here are more interested in prototypes.

Then again, we were allowed to railfan the V&O over the years, courtesy of the modelling press. The road was so well researched and firmly rooted in 1:1 history, terrain and operations that it should get an honorary AAR reporting mark. There was no real revenue or stockholders but it was a railroad!
