Darn it, harold, where was this on Saturday? I have just finished a 24" programming track that I senicked onto a 1X6" plank and layered foam. I covered the foam with a think layer of hydrocal and plaster, and tinted it to look sandy. Then I added a thin layer of loam and overgrowth. It turned out okay (according to two reviewers), but if I had stippled, it would certainly have been better.
