nice models. Bell is way too loud, louder than steam sounds. I would say the bell sound, is out of scale.

Nice, what is the cost going to be

I have an Athearn Challenger and I love it. It’s my first loco with sound and it’s amazing. Great job by Athearn!

Wish my layout was big enough to run one, not 6’ X 4’, climbing up the walls of a garden shed.

Super video of super equipment. Now everyone to be re-doing their layout to accommodate these giants!

They sound nothing like any steam locomotive I’ve ever heard.

Having spent part of my TV News career in Cheyenne I’m familiar with both engines, especially the Challenger and the many excursion trips it does. Ditto for the Big Boy, one of which is on display in a park in Cheyenne. Do believe I’ll be adding a Challenger to pull my UP passenger cars. Nice review, thanks.

I have purchased a big boy with sound. It runs and sounds excellent on my DC layout. With the sound on board, enhances running on my layout. Once I attach the MRC Black box to my track I am hoping to improve the sounds emanating if compatable.

It’s amazing what they have done with N scale… but there is such a thing as the reality of scale… and as for sound and detail… it just doesn’t make the grade. Thanks !

Beautiful! Unfortunately I suspect the engine is larger than my entire road. Oh well, I can dream.

Both locomotives look great! I know it’s difficult to get good sound quality in a recording like this, but I closed my eyes and imagined them coming to the station or getting ready to climb up the grade. These seem like they would be a welcome addition to any larger N-Scale layout! Maybe one day, says I! Maybe one day!!!

Cheers!!!

Outsstanding “N” scale models-who would have thought!!

Chuffs sounds verry tinny otherwise very nice. jcg

My goodness what an amzing pair of locos. Well done Athearn.

Unfortunately, sounds like someone banging on an aluminum plate. Not to my liking tho.

Not suitable for my layout in terms of road and era, but I’m sure they will be very welcome to many. They look and sound good!

REALLY BEAUTIFUL ENGINES…THE SOUND IS A LITTLE “TINNY” ON SCREEN,HOPEFULLY IT IS MORE REALISTIC IN PERSON…NICE.

I like these, too. They remind me of my new 4-8-4 I just got, but it is not a DCC, yet.

I hvbe to agree with Jeffery; Maybe one day, says I! Maybe one day!!!

Absolutely beautiful. And, they fit in perfect with my Steam to Diesel transitional layout.

Idea - EMD buys the rights to the design and builds an Electro-Diesel for retro railroading in the real world.
