Nice locomotive. Very nice presentation. I would love to have one but I just bought four new locomotives last month and cant justify another at this time.
So incredible. It’s times like this that I wish I could afford that.
That Walshearts valve gear is amazing and so detailed! I HAVE TO HAVE ONE!
Very nice locomotive. great detail!! Thanks
Dana
When I watched the video it appeared that the engine was jurking a bit. Was that a video problem or was it the model?
Always enjoy the reviews!

It’s so good to see a beautiful locomotive by which I’m NOT tempted. I’d be thrilled to see it on somebody else’s layout, then go back to completeing my contemporary one. Neatest thing about little trains - you can like lots of different kinds and sizes, and buy the ones you LOVE.
No surprise that the sound isn’t in sync with the locomotive operation, and this was on a DCC layout. I’ve listened to the one in Durbin, W. Va. and when we get ours finished here at Cass, then I’ll be able to hear ours. The model itself is very well done. Even in DC operation it is supurb. Just cut the wire to the speaker and you have a fine locomotive. I wonder if it will hold up to the years like it’s PFM counterpart.
Now if they would only put a set of narrow gauge trucks (HOn3) then they would really have something to peek my interest.
MR’s sample engine had a minimum smooth-running speed of 4 smph. That seems kind of high for a climax, when other engines easily do 1 or 2 smph. Anybody else have a better experience? Maybe MR’s was an outlier? Did anyone at MR contact Bachmann about the problem?
I got one at the recent train show (WGH on Tour) in Tampa. Drive shaft was disconnected in two places but after putting it back together, IT RUNS GREAT!! Very nice detail and the sound system is very nice/accurate. Love to watch it run!!
I have N scale trains. Is it possible to have great sound like that without having DCC?
Fantastic locomotive, and the sound is super. This just occurred to me: could a model steam loco (with sound) be equipped with swivel detectors in the truck(s) to sense track curvature to summon the squealing flange sound automatically? That would be the ultimate sound effect. This way the operator wouldn’t have to summon the effect manually - it would occur just as it would in the real world. Just a thought. Any manufacturers listening?
I just aquired a 80 ton shay full sound and dcc it is incredible
Im not into steam but if i were this would be one of the first i would buy. i really like this one makes me want to build a logging layout…
Nice loco. Is the bell sound correct? I thought it sounded like a stationary clapper as opposed to a swinging bell. I am unsure what the prototype sounded like…
This is a fine running locomotive with great sound. I especially like the sound of the tank filling with water when stopped at the water tank.
What a beautiful looking locomotive, and it sounds great! I love that whistle and the flange sounds.
That is a very nice layout, somewhat similar to a real layout in a park in Duncan British columbia, used a lot during the summer season, we had ridden on years ago. This one depicts the logging era of years gone by.
