Great video, I only wish it was longer to show more of a fantastic layout.
In a word, wonderful.
Great job with the scenery !!! Great video, well done guys !!!
Dull video. Not even RPI alumni can get access to this carefully guarded model rr.
Too bad a static camera was used. It really limited our view of very large and superbly sceniced model railroad.
Nice Video !
Fantastic scenery in every aspect. I had not seen this portion of layout on video before. Looking forward to the article and would like to see a full video of the entire layout in action.
Excellent scenery! Wow! Very nicely done.
GREAT VIDEO. ALMOST REAL BUT THE ENGINEER DIDN’T BLOW FOR THE CROSSING IN THE BEACH SCENE.
I had the opportunity to personally see this layout about 15 years ago. I had arranged for a private showing by John Nedrich. It was then pretty fantastic and I only wished I could have been there for an operating session and seen trains run. In my estimation it is one of the premier layouts that has influenced me in my modeling. Thank you for the many articles on this layout over the years and I look forward to the new one!
I agree with the other comments - the scenery is excellent, very well done! I also appreciated the slow moving train. On some videos the train is moving too quickly and at the video makes the train appear to jerk. This one was perfect.
Seeing this railroad on the November cover actually made me jump for joy. This was the layout that made me want to go from playing with my trains / having one go around the Christmas tree to actually wanting a scenic railroad. I still have the VHS tape I was given years ago that shows operations on it.
Beautiful scenery and appropriate speed for the drag freight. Hope the sun worshippers like trains well enough to tolerate the cinders shower!
I really enjoyed seeing the layout again with this short video. Thanks to John and the club members, it is a truly awesome layout certainly on par with the layout in Greeley, Co. I had the pleasure of operating on the layout every Friday night in the early 80’s while a grad student at RPI. I am so impressed at the longevity of the club and a little sad that my efforts at CCT in the early 70’s have been removed since the presidents house now sits where we built a very good layout. We even showed it to the chairman of the UP when he got an honorary degree. I wish John and his fellow club members all the best to continue such a fantastic endeavor.
I like the one were it going down by the water.
