Video of Union Pacific in Arkansas

A video of a southbound train I shot today.

Been shooting in a variety of weather to prepare for the trophy hunt of the Steam tour coming to Arkansas.

Great little video. I totally didn’t know which way the train was coming so that came to me as a surprise–which I liked.

Maybe invest in a tri-pod, then you’ll be stylin’.

Thanks. I do have a tripod, but I dont use it where I shoot because it attracts unwanted attention.

First time in a long time that I’ve seen a UP train at speed. Nice vid.

Good shot!

VERY NICE VIDEO. AS FOR THE BROOMS/RAILROAD? TOTALY STUPID!

Wait until I catch em side by side. I swear that happens several times a week.

Nice video!

Nice, Really nice![8D]

Cool video, where did you shoot that at?

Small town NE of Little Rock on the MP main.

Is that Bald Knob? That place looks familiar I just don’t remember which town.

Bald Knob is too far away to the north.

Let’s see.

Searcy, McRae, Beebe, Ward (Great shooting spot) Cabot, Jacksonville (Some switching at a few mills and locals) and of course Litle Rock and Mabelvale. I like to shoot Mabelvale the most because the Hobby Shop is right there on the crossing and usually does not mind too much but it is a good distance from where I am unless I am in the area on a medical appointment.

There is also more activity towards Jonesboro. I think we have the Texas Eagle from Chicago that goes thru there and that train is elusive.

I dont know too much about the Union Pacific being from the east under the old B&O and the Western Maryland. But Trains are trains and I enjoy them whereever they are. I recall alot of Santa Fe, BSNF and other power in places like Raton, Cheyenne and others where I would shoot them with a tiny disposible film camera. This was pre-9/11 and would recieve a toot and a wave when I got the shot.

There are several old bridges across the Arkansas River some of which are flood survivors and a trolley line uses one of them. I intend to shoot a few of those in the near future.

Thanks for the video.

It is always good to see some Arkansas.

great job…

Actually, tri-pods are the universal symbol of a railfan. If the RR guys around here see you with a tri-pod by the tracks, they often wave or give you a few toots on the whistle. I’ve never had a problem when using a tri-pod.
