sound was really good

Looks like a nice engine. The sound was good. Didn’t care for how the smoke unit worked. Way back when, American Flyer made their smoke work with a piston that was connected to the drivers. The smoke puffed out with every turn of the wheels. I was never able to get smoke rings, although some claimed to have. I think that would be the solution here. Just having smoke drifting out of the stack doesn’t quite do it.

I agre with Robert with all of today’s technology there should be no question on the smoke in a G scale

The engine needs an engineer and fireman to be more realistic. If steam (smoke) comes from the whistle as it sounds it would be so much more realistic. Why not, with Comand Ccontrol?

What decoder and DCC Controller were you using?

Loved the whistle, sounded like the real thing! Thanks Dana for another outstanding report!

I thought it was good

Ditto on the smoke unit. Even HO steamers sync the chuffs and puffs to the turning drivers. But the whistle sounds great.

I’d be interested to know if the ‘chuff rate’ is adjustable?? Seems like it’s set to two per revolution instead of four…
