Couldn’t help noticing. Are you only using automated spell check or auto correct when editing? Reason for asking is that among the sound effects is “break squealing”, not “brake squealing” as one would expect. Beyond that a very nice looking and operating model

Beautful model. , Would like to have seen the other version as well, with the larger pantograh. , And, would you have available, perhaps at a local modeler’s layout, a section of track with overhead electrification. (Wired or dummy doesn’t matter.) I read in MRR that even the NYC Grand Central Terminal version required a pantograph because some parts of the tunnel under the station and north out of the city center did not afford third-rail operation.

The “supers” at the bottom of the screen are informative but they cover-up the model…

VIDEO IS NICE BUT VERY DARK AND HARD TO VIEW

The “mini-pantographs” on the p2 (and all the other NYC and NH motors that ran into Grand Central) weren’t for catenary, but rather were for overhead-3rd rail, which was located wherever there were lengthy gaps in the track-level 3rd rail. I.E, over all those consecutive slip switches. The NH motors had 3rd rail shoes and both pantographs … the normal, larger ones for AC catenary East/North of Woodlawn, and the ‘mini’s’ for the overhead 3rd rail @ GCT.

Love to have one in N scale. Not brass would be too much on the budget:)

It looks like they did a wonderful job

As a former NYC brakeman (early 60’s on Harlem Div.) I often rode as flagman on this engine. And yes the small pantographs were used inside GCT tunnel layouts where ground level third-rail was impossible over complex switch layouts. Sparks would fly overhead like fireworks as it contacted a short-metal overhead power ‘bridge’; especially if motorman had throttle advanced for pulling a string of loaded heavy-weight passenger cars. As a young employee then, these overhead sparks would certainly get my attention.
