Virtual Railroad Tours

I wanted to post a link to modelrailroadforums.com. They have a forum dedicated to virtual tours. I posted a short tour over there and would love to see some of the regulars here do the same. You guys have some awesome layouts but, unfortunately, they’re spread out across the globe! Folks like me want to see/read about them all! That’s where the internet comes in handy. Come on guys, how bout a tour of your railroad? Not only would they be enjoyed by fellow MR’ers, but as a visual hobby, they could promote model railroading to those surfing the web. That’s a win/win situation. Let’s see them guys!

twhite, steveblackledge, aggro (just off the top of my head, there’s many other awesome layout builders here), I double dog dare you guys to do a virtual tour. [:D]

Check out the N scale The Rio Como and The Denver North Park & Western tour. Absolutely awesome RR! That’s what model railroading is about, IMHO.

this seems cool to me!!!

Looks real good Grande, lets hope it takes off, more like a hybrid of a forum and railimages.com. Instant world wide feedback and communication with the modeller about his project and techniques, dont you just love the web.

Like I said lets hope it takes off and some more modellers join and display.

(saw yours incidentally Grande, looks mighty fine, great showcase for your layout, awesome pics)

Have fun & be safe,
Karl.

Cool stuff, I wish I had a layout to give a tour of.

Looks like a nice site. I registered , how long for them to confirm you membership so you can post there ?

Midnightflyer, look forward to a virtual tour of some good ole Grande! I’ve been registered over there for some time but it seems like the membership was confimed pretty quick.

TrainFreak, someday you’ll have a layout, and when you do, we want pics!

ukguy, thanks for the kind comments. If I could model water like you I’d be a happy man!

railroadyoshi, me too!

BTT for thr day shift. [:D]

Thats pretty sweet!

My website does that for my own layout, in more depth than I’d care to put on a forum. I could do a copy and paste, but it’s just easier to click on the url in my signature and go look at my web site, I think.

That’s true, but the virtual tour forum could prove to be a great place to veiw many model railroads (as opposed to just one) from a common page. It sure seems like a cool use of the web to get the hobby / individual layouts some great exposure. I don’t know, maybe I’m just like a kid in the candy shop when it comes to looking at model trains. [:)] I really enjoy that aspect of the hobby.

Well I’m right there in the candy store with you Grande[:D]. I love to admire others work, lose myself in the pics, its a part of the hobby I also enjoy greatly. Plus with the diversity of creativeness all in one place one cannot fail to get inspiration or ideas for your own railroad, and you have the opportunity to discuss with the modeller how it was accomplished.

Awesome.

Karl.

Karl, the web has enhanced the hobby greatly for me and, the ability to get ideas from seeing other modelers’ work is a big plus.

I’d love to see you do a virtual tour of your layout. Your detailing skill is considerably beyond my own and because of that I really enjoy viewing your pics. You sir, are a prime candidate to do a virtual tour! [8D]

One last trip to the top to be sure anyone interested got the address and then I’ll let this one fade away…

Thanks for the compliment Grande, as soon as I feel I have a railroad maybe I’ll do it, right now all I think I have is one scene. Maybe one day soon.

I also added some detail pics for you to the bottom of my last page,

direct link.

I’ll keep workin on it.

Have fun & be safe
Karl.

Look forward to seeing more, Karl. I’ll have to check out the railimages link tonight from home. The network filter here at work won’t let me go there.
