'Voyages' on the History Channel - a "DON'T MISS IT" special

“When Giants Roamed the Land”. Gorgeous steam engine shots. A big part on the N&W and O. Winstion Link, and how the N&W built the best. Showed graphically how a Y6 was superior to a Big Boy… I know, I know, but I still loved it. [:)]
I caught part of it at 4 PM. Comes on again at 4 AM on satellite. I’m gonna fire up the DVD recorder for sure for this.

Dish Network?

Agreed–it was a stunner! And good to see some footage of the C&O Allegheny tackling those coal-loads. Great footage and very good commentary. I got into it about fifteen minutes late. Since they were talking about the last gasp of great steam, I wonder if they mentioned the Missabe 2-8-8-4’s? Guess I’ll have to wait until it comes on again to see. But don’t miss it if you haven’t seen it. The N&W footage is especially good!

I found it scheduled under the History Channel International. Viewers of the regular History Channel will not be able to see this unless they also have International.

Good looking out Virginian!!! …I set the Media center to record it!

Awwww crap. I don’t get that channel.

The real down side is that they don’t have this show offered for sale on their website! I don’t get History International either, but probably would have bought the video of the show if it were available. Guess they lost some money there!

I found it on their website. Here’s the link:

It’s $29.95 in VHS only, from what I can tell.
Update!!!
I did find a four volume set available in DVD format for $59.95. It is the “Trains Unlimited DVD set” which is item #70790. They also have a “Locomotion” DVD set that looks interesting, and it was only $14.95. From what was posted above about the Trains Unlimited show, I decided to order both sets.

I’ll have to check the HI channel schedule when I get home…sounds spiffy. As much as I like World War II tanks, it’s nice to see something on the History Channel that doesn’t involve warfare.

Two different providers, over 300 channels, and of course this is the ONE I don’t get. Grrr. Glad it’s on dvd at least…still, I’d love to see some of that steam on DiscoveryHD…
