Walthers Daily Examiner Newspaper Building

After having worked for the local newspaper for nine years before my retirement, I feel like I need a newspaper building on my layout. Of the ones I’ve seen, the Walthers Daily Examiner stands out as being the one that would most likely “fit” in my downtown. The problem is that particular kit is no longer available and seems to be very rare on the aftermarket (Ebay).

Given that many companies including Walthers tend to re-use structure kits with a few new/different parts to make something else, are there any Walthers kits that look similar to the Daily Examiner?

As always, thanks in advance for your replies. BTW, if anyone has a kit thaat they are willing to part with, kindly send me a PM.

You could always take any building you like and make it the Daily Examiner. Its all in the labeling.

If you are looking for something Walthers re-used the molds for, the Worthington Hotel used the same parts, athough it is only 2 stories vs. The 3 the Daily Examiner is. The hotel also has an additional section to the left, and a different first floor insert on the right. It is way more common than the Daily Examiner though, and a repaint and re-label wouldn’t be too hard.

I realize it’s definitely not the same building or anything, however, the Herald Star building (AHM, Pola, IHC) is not a bad looking building IMHO. The building seems to be a good candidate for a kit bash with its components.
See the attached album for it in stock form.

It is from my personal layout FWIW.

There was one on eBay that was sold this past December. Googling shows one that might be available at ddmodeltrains.com.

You can also join hoswap and do a wtb (want to buy).

Thanks. I have a note into ddmodeltrains but they haven’t responded yet..

I bought one a few weeks ago on Ebay but it turned out to be a munch of miss mash parts; several dulicates, lots of parts that didn’t belong and several that were missing. :frowning:

Ah, gotta love buying stuff on eBay.
