Dude, first of all it has railings on it so why do you need the brass railings? Second you probably could find a red bulb and the chip needed for the mars light in the walthers catalog. but like I said you would need a chip to make the flashing of the mars light even though the light should be moving in a figure eight movement.
You probably are going to find that the trucks are already sending power to the inside of the cars thru metal plates underneath the car.
I dont know anything about installing Mars Lights but you probably can run it off a battery or off the trucks on the rail.
Rails can be painted a brass color, they should already be on the model.
I own a Pullman Observation (along with several other heavyweights) and think that the wheels were too bright, but easily painted to a more black color on the outside.
I have not had the chance to run the heavyweights as a train due to lack of adequate curvature so I cannot tell you how they run on the rail.
A few HO scale figures of Sir Toppenhats of Thomas The Tank engine fame on the platform should be sufficient to shout “Business car!” Carrying that one step further, a giant sound speaker on top at the rear turns it to a Presidental car with appropriate red white and blue bunting.
You might want to get a set of ‘ditch’ lights and use them as ‘inspection’ lights - something very common on business cars. Go out to the railway classics web site and drill down through the business car listing - there is a nice tail end photo of GN A-30 showing the ‘inspection lights’ and the signal light. This is a streamline car, but the GN has heavyweight business cars as well. As far as a ‘brass’ end railing, most GN business cars got a smooth sheet metal end cap after WWII when they got the EB paint job. This was painted to match the sides of the car.
Finally got it. James put the decals on, now it is lettered so: Leif Ericson #950, and it the top end corners on each there is NSTT, standing for North Shore Terminal and Transfer.
The brass railings look AMAZING! Ill get pics when I can. It goes great with my heavyweight diner.
