Walther's Modern Roundhouse and 90' turntable?

In the instruction sheet for Walther’s modern roundhouse it says, and I paraphrase here, to complete your scene you’ll need the 130’ turntable. Uhh oh… I bought the 90’ turntable. Is the roundhouse and the 90’ not compatible?

The instruction for the roundhouse kit were written when only the 130’ TT was available. The 90’ TT will work just fine. The ‘lead’ from the edge of the pit to the bldg is just longer…

Yes, as Jim has replied, it will “fit”, but you will have to slide the two together and then apart until sections of rail in the bays line up nice and radially on the pit lip. Also, think carefully about the orientation of the roundhouse. I find that an oblique angle works best such that you have to move a bit to the side to actually see all the way to the back of the bays. That presents the locomotives or tenders at their best.

Did you get the indexing built-up model, JaRRel? I have only recently installed mine, and like it very much. Needs some serious weathering, though.

Thanks Jim and Selector for the information. Crandell, I ordered the unmotorized 90’ tt, but I sure would like the other, the motorized 130 foot. But about a month ago the bottom fell out around here in the medical bills dept. I suppose I could wait for a couple of months, but my thinking was I could manually turn the 90 foot, even though it won’t hold my one large steamer, a BLI Class A 2-6-6-4. Since getting into mrring I’ve actually shifted toward liking the diesels, strange for someone my age I guess. We’re supposed to be nostagic for steam, aren’t we? Oh I like steam ok, have the little 0-8-0 p2k switch engine, but I like the diesels too. [:)]

Thank you for your help as always!

JaRRell, [#ditto] Jim and Selector. The Walthers catalog has the demensions for the footprint. After our efforts with TTs, I would wait for the Walthers ready to run model. We fought to get a Heljen 98’working; gave up; and made room for the 130’ TT.

Good luck, Sue
