I got a Walther’s oil platform in hopes of kitbashing it into the type that only fills from the one track instead of two. Anyone know of a tread or pics of such a kitbash???
I kitbashed a couple into unloading platforms serving one track only. Loading and unloading facilities can look very similar.
I omitted the retractable walkway from one side and filled the gap in the railing with scrap railing parts from the kit (you could also use plain styrene strip material). There’s another gap to fill where the walkway would otherwise fit under the main platform, for which I used more styrene strip.
Anything else associated with piping or other features I no longer needed was simply cut off before assembly or otherwise omitted. I had enough leftover railings to add some to one side of each folding walkway section.
Compare these photos to the kit and it should help to see what areas were changed. You could of course retain all six of the large pipes, or keep the platforms the original length, and assembly would still be similar.
Thanks, as I didn’t have a clue and the Walthers kit is way faster and sturdier to build than some of the craftsman type kits I own (dropped the whole housing for my float bridge from Walthers on a concrete floor without any damage).

I just built mine per the directions. It’s on the layout now, but because I’m still working behind it, I haven’t glued it in place or finished up the scenery around it.
Perhaps, at one time, there was a second track on the other side that’s now been replaced by a road. Perhaps the road side could be used to load tanker trucks.
Perhaps the old guy standing on the platform could tell you.
Maybe but he might be a Preiser and only speak German!!!

Seriosuly, this kit has a lot of tiny and thin parts. Be careful taking them off the sprues. I spent a lot of time on my hands and knees, and I never did find a couple of them.
Thats why I have a pair of PBL nippers!!!
