Walthers Roundhouse

Does anyone have any better (front view) pictures of the Walthers HO 3041 Roundhouse Kit?

What is degree of lead tracks?

Thanks,

Hi, Stratfan12,

On the Walthers site you can find planninh & layout templates for that roundhouse using their turntables. Maybe you might find the info you need there.

Good luck!

Not really sure what your question is, are you referring to the tracks from the pit to the round house stalls or the tracks leading up to the pit?

If you are talking about the tracks from the pit to the stalls all I did was line up the base of the roundhouse where I wanted it to be on the module I was building and used a steel straight edge to draw parallel lines leading from the groves in the floor (meant to accept the rails) form all of the stalls in my case 6. Where all the line intersect is the center of the turntable pit. The tracks wind up being about 3-1/2" long. I never exactly measured the angle but I am guessing about 10 degrees.

I am pretty sure they are spaced at 10 degrees. i have two of the kits and laid my tracks at 10 degrees which seems to fit. I haven’t installed the track or turntable yet, just laid it out on the bench.

Here is the Walther’s catalog picture. The caption indicates that the stall spacing is 10 degree.

Thanks for all the help and replies.

does anyone have any better pictures of the front of this roundhouse “other” than the walthers catalog or website pic shown

Thank you,

How’s about this view. Better look quick before they sell the thing. Walthers must have sold these in boxes with different pictures on the cover: http://cgi.ebay.com/Walthers-HO-3-Stall-Roundhouse-Building-Kit-932-3041-/370351183133?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item563aa6951d

Here are a couple not very good though but if you can tell me what your looking for maybe I can take a pic? Oh and one word of warning if your thinking of allowing the doors to swing I don’t recommend doing it. Those little pins on the bottom break off just by looking at them funny

This one is not mine I wish it was

I don’t think that is the kit he has. But maybe the fronts are all the same?

Thanks to everyone for your replies and pics. Im shopping around for the best looking (but affordable) roundhouse. I love this hobby!! Even when arm chair modeling

Thanks

A word of warning about the Walthers roundhouse kit, it is not the best kit I have ever built. They chose to make the wall a three piece deal an outer and inner wall with widows sandwiched in between. Also the inner support structures are functional and not just for aesthetic purposes the problem is they need to be stronger. My last bitch is you have to glue the rails in each stall to the floor Not the best design in my o/p.

I much prefer the Heljan roundhouse kit a much nicer kit and it is based on a US prototype contrary to what some claim. Heljan actually makes most of the kits for Walthers. One advantage is the Heljan kit has no floor so you set your track on the layout surface and place the finished roundhouse over the top. If you choose not to glue it to the surface (which is a wise idea) you can simply lift it up off the layout for maintenance or repairs etc.
