Warning signs

I am trying to find good, close-up, straight on photos of typical warning signs on US diesels, ie: stepwell safety warnings, electrical cabinet warnings etc, can anyone point me in the right direction or assist with photos.

Unfortunately, being ‘Down Under’, my zoom on my camera is not good enough to get the shots I need.

Any help will be appreciated.

Are you looking to make decals for your locos? Would somthing like this work??

Not really clear enough and I don’t like to capitalise on someone else’s work, I prefer to get good photos of originals and do my own artwork, but I appreciate the thought.

I thought maybe you couldn’t find decals and figured you had to make your own.

They’re a lot sharper in real life and there’s a few other sets by Microscale as well. I use them all the time. Therse are silkscreened, unless you’re using a Laser printer, I don’t think you’re going to equal them and you won’t have to deal with problem of printing white.

No problem with Micro-Scale, their quality is superb, it’s just that I do intend making my own, white is no problem, nor is quality, I am looking to do in various scales for various projects, as I say, I like to do my own, part of my hobby, just looking for good photos and good variety.

I think finding the perfect photos for your purpose might be a challenge.

Why not create your own graphics with a prog such as Adobe Illustrator?

You can use less than perfect photos as reference and then creat your own perfect artwork.

Could be a new hobby too!

I do actually draw what I need in Corel Draw, just need some photos to go by, plenty of people take overal loco shots or even detail photos for parts, but not many for stickers, data etc, I also find this problem with Freight cars.

I have mates here in Queensland, Australia that now specifically take photos of data, codeboards, engine numbers, builders plates, etc just for the reasons I cite.

Still appreciate everyones interest.

Will this help you out???

I purchase safety supplies for my company from Lab Safety Supply on occasion and they sell a large variety of signs, here are links to a few of them with images that might be resized to fit your scale:

Many more to find…

Traffic Signs ----> http://www.trafficsign.us/

Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices ----> http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/Signs/results.cfm?type=all

And one on RR warning signs ----> http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/htm/2003r1r2/part8/fig8b-05_longdesc.htm

I was unable to open the link to RR Warning signs, I would suspect though that these would be generic warning signs, I am after just the types used on diesl locomotives to warn staff/workers of hazards, watch your step, electrical hazard etc.

I thank each and everyone of you for your input.
