washing off chalk?

heyy guys i was wondering some of my cars came out bad when i weathered them so is there a good way too wa***hem off also how can i wash engines not of chalk but too clean them off?

[:D] Thnx Keith

I have an old car with the same problem. I was thinking a wet toothbrush might be the way to go. I just wonder if that would be so stiff it might wear off the lettering. I want to change the road name so maybe I will start there first and see what happens.

To get the chalk off all you need is an old toothbrush and some water. You don’t have to do it very hard at all. As a matter of fact, you could do most of it with your fingers and water. The toothbrush is more for getting into the cracks and crevices that your fingers can’t get to.

One thought to add to this, some chalks have some oil in them to help them stick better and make them more permanent. If water and toothbrush (soft bristle) don’t get enough off, you may need a little detergent action. Soap.

As for damaging the original paint and lettering, a lot has to do with how it was applied. Most factory paint jobs are fairly tough. Try a small section as a test before going at it full tilt.

I use a soft tooth brush and dishwashing liquid and warm water. (providing you didn’t seal the chalks with clear coat) If you did, then it’s a matter of stripping, not cleaning.
Go easy with the tooth brush, you don’t want to take paint off.
