Keep telling the truth Mr. Guse. You are correct.

This is how things are done in Chicago. After doing a major disaster such as the Obamacare project, forget about fixing it and move on to the next major disaster in need of expansion. Anybody who studies the Chicago Machine should know this. Except it goes one better. In Chicago, every so often the feds would show up and need to be paid off in order to go away. With Obama in Washington, and everybody knows Congress is in charge of running Washington, there is no feds to worry about paying off because Obama and Congress are now above any law. Isn’t insider crony capitalism wonderful? Just don’t confuse insider crony capitalists with free market capitalists, who actually fix their mistakes, try to do a good job, and compete with the other free market capitalists for survival.

But it is good to see the federal issued cards will be included. After all, if those were not, the majority of the population, the welfare recipients, would not be able to get a free ride. If you work for big socialist government and your department isn’t covered in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution, guess what? You are a welfare recipient.

It’s about time that Mr. Guse get’s a life and shuts up.

hold it! this is the same company the feds just fired from fixing the obamacare web site! lol! I am picking myself up off the floor on this! way to go here folks! ah yes. cronyism at its best again. got to keep it corrupt

@MATTHEW BRANDLEY - Uh, no, it isn’t. Accenture is the company the Feds just hired to fix the Obamacare website

And even if it had been fired, what would that have had to do with anything? The WMATA isn’t answerable to the Feds, it’s run jointly by the DC, Maryland, and Virginian governments.

@JEFFERY GUSE - You are aware this story is about the Washington Metro right?

  • Obama isn’t involved
  • Chicago isn’t involved
  • Nothing remotely related to Chicago, socialism, or Obama is involved.

This is about a city transportation network appointing someone to oversee their ticketing system.

I’m completely baffled as to what you think you’re talking about.

Paul, the fool is using socialist made highways without paying his fair share. Just another tea bagger dupe.

WMATA is run by a board of the members of the 3 jurisdictions that it runs through. It is not run by the Federal Government. Next the automatic fare systems works good if it is a one time pay system. The WMATA is not like that because your card gets marked up at the station you enter and then the one you leave so you get charged by the distance you travelled plus you get off peak and on peak fairs and just to sweeten the mix if you are handicapped you get a reduced fare on all rides. I spent 22 years living in the DC area and had my orange disabled fare cards along with a disabled person ID issued by WAMATA. I rode WAMATA any time I wanted to go downtown and not put up with the hassel of parking.

I’m glad to see serious a serious challange to Cudic Western, who, while their stuff did work, was not intituitive, and many felt overly complicated. Slight mis-adjustment and a fare card would launch itself 10’ in the air never to be seen again. I do wish the new guys well though, WMATA is…hummm…how to say it…like no other company in the world.

At least they didn’t hire the outfit (Cubic Transportation Systems – CTS) that implemented the Ventra fare collection system in Chicago for the CTA. The funny thing is that CTS is actually a pretty reputable company globally, but they somehow managed to really screw up the CTA implementation. This being Chicago, I’m sure they had to bring in some “connected” local business “partners”.

Huh?
Must be talking about a different system that I rode this past weekend.
