Looks Rusty, Kind of un-safe but thats ok I have a switcher where the whole under frams is “rusted out”. I like it [^]
Yes, it looks overdone…but, the technique seems to be right! You might try a yellow wash now, or a dark one to see if the reddi***one can be tamed a bit. Otherwise, easy does it. [tup]
Is it rust or Georgia clay?

MODLERBOB hmmm havent decided lol…i do think it is a little red…the photo is kinda red too, too lazy to color correct…but yeah i think im gonna put a darker wash over it all.
Heres updated pics with a darker wash, underframe still needs a little work.
like my beautiful body paintjob? ahh the wonders of thick enamel, bad masking tape and small brushes!!
NOW YER TALKIN!! [:D][tup][wow] It looks much better now. Well done!
the black wash helped alot…here is atrick that I use in 1/35 armour…take a dry brush of silver …very lightly hit the high spots…let dry…take a pencil…and shave yourself a pile of graphite…brush on the graphite and buff lightly…seal with dullcoat… it makes a great look on tanks smd they are huge chunks of metal just like a train…[;)]
Pix, please, Chessie
If I had the capibility of showing pictures I would after i figured out how to do it…I still cant get a photo in to my signature box…Kinda computer dumb[banghead] so if I … we (the wife has the computer brain)can get it figured out I will give you somee pics…
well once you have pics on ur computer, go to an image hosting site, i use www.imageshack.us all u have to do is register, and once u do just click browse on the frontpage, find the picture you want, and then click Host it! after it uploads, just find the address that is labeled HTML for forums(1), and copy and paste that into your text box here! and it should work.
It is somewhat more complicated than that, but we can talk you through the next steps after you get an account with imageshack or railimages. com and have uploaded your preferred pix to that host site. It might take a couple of days to get ‘approved’ and registered on rialimages.
Let us know when you have the page they allot to you ready with images.
thats why i suggested imageshack, they usually get back to you within a few minutes…
Cheesie,
I use www.photobucket.com it works pretty good. They recently upgraded and now all you have to do us highlight and copy the Tag under the pic you want from your album!
Karl,
The weathering with the black wash is much better, and the body paint is looking nice too! Keep at it.

Wrong color.
Loco trucks are usually more dusty than rusty. Especially a new unit. The trucks are painted and have composition shoes so there is nothing to “rust”.
Rather than a rust color try a light grey. You’ll also want to install your brake gear before you weather the trucks.

Looks much better now, and I know what you mean about the paint job I am in that situation right now…I want an airbrush so bad!!! but oh well. Good work!
yeah i need too put all the brake doodads on…when i figure out what goes where…and cheese yeah it sucks not having an airbrush, the paint looks ok though except for those straight lines, kind of a “used” dented look from the brush strokes
