Weathering of BCR C425

Using some great photos of the actual locos from RailPictures.net I completed some heavy weathering on the first of my three BCR ALCO C-425s. the effect is heavy, but the real locos were even more messed up in the photos.

The side frames have not been painted. I include the photos to show the effects of sandblasting with the alluminum oxide I posted about earlier. I added a touch of brown and rust with Bragdon powders, but the weathering is made easy by the heavy grey dust effect caused by the sand blasting.

The real locos looked very close to this grey in the photos.

Excellent work Cisco. I have seen many of these in my day and some were so dirty you couldn’t tell they were two shades of green.

Excellent work. I particularly like the oxidized and peeling paint on the frame.
