weathering track

changing track to atlas code 83 flex. need ideas on how to weather. should i weather before track is down or after? thanks lynne

You can do either. I you weather it before you put it down, you can do it at the bench, which may be easier, but you will then have to touch up the silver bits that show when the track bends and the ties shift. If you weather it after installation, it may require you to mask scenery etc. My preference is to do it after installation as all my soldering is complete and I don’t then have to go back and touch it up.

After. Soulder doesn’t stick well to paint. I just used an airbrush and sprayed the rails with rust colored paint. Then when it dried I took a Brite Boy and ran along the tops. IT was remarkably simple. And the tracks were really clean afterwards. [:D]
