Hey Bill,

Does anyone know where I can find a Weaver H-10 (Besides eBay)?
I have a couple of Weaver brass locos, NYC 0-6-0 and a NYC Dreyfus Hudson. I am very happy with both locos. I need to add TMCC to them someday.
I have had good luck with Weaver hoppers(30) and boxcars(10) over the years. Also, set of ribbed SRR aluminuim passenger cars, Baggage and 3 others + Observation.
And, I haven’t had any problem with their engines:
0-6-0 Switcher-slopeback tender Conv.
AA E-8s Conv.
2-8-0s (2) TM/RS 4.0
Ps-4 (Streamlined) TM/RS 4.0
[all Southern Railway roadnames]
I have quite a few Weaver freight cars. Most have plastic trucks which have caused me no problems. When I order new cars now I specify metal trucks and couplers because I just like them better. Have two engines a diecast PRR, C-1, 0-8-0 switcher and a VO-1000 Baldwin with TMCC. Shortly after I bought the VO-1000 the sound stopped working. I sent them an email and explained the problem. They sent me a prepaid UPS return label and I sent it back on a Monday. On the next Thursday (four days!) I got it back repaired. Is that service or what!!![:D][:D][:D]
Yes I think they are great people to deal with. I belong to the Weaver Club, but I buy most of my stuff from a local dealer.
I have tons of Weaver stuff. The best part about Weaver is the fact that they make their engines and rolling stock in a wide variety of road names (many of which are totally ignored by the other manufacturers). They also offer their rolling stock in multiple road numbers. If you want a long drag of matching hoppers, each with a different number, your only choice is Weaver.
Also, almost all of their rolling stock and most of their diesels are made in the USA! I don’t own any Weaver steamers, but I have eight diesels…all are nicely detailed with bullet-proof drivetrains.
Buy Weaver? Definitely!
I have bought some Weaver freight cars in the past and have had the worst time when using the Weavers with Lionel on the same train. The Weaver cars just won’t stay on the track & cause major derailments, even tried putting the Weaver cars in the rear of the train only to have the caboose & car or two before it derail. Have tried adding weight and replacing the couplers with Lionel style couplers, nothing helped me. My only two solutions are to run the Weaver cars separately or sell them.
I will need to see a Weaver engine run on somebody’s layout before I buy any Weaver engines.

Some years ago, CTT profiled Weaver and interviewed Bob Weaver. The thesis of the profile was that Weaver can be considered the Athearn of O scale, and the comparison seemed apt. I own no Weaver myself (though that might change), but, insofar as the comparison might be useful, I offer it with no personal experience.
I run my Weaver Hoppers ahead of 15 Lionel hoppers on a 28’x14’ track . I had trouble at first with the Challenger “stringlining” the headend cars when starting in a curve. The MTH 4-6-6-4 is on its third set of traction tires because over the past 9 years the consist has been trouble free and running quite often since weighting the first 10-12 cars with a diminishing number of pennies front to rear.
i have has good luck with Weaver freight cars.[:)]
Weaver rolling stock is cheap, and I get it cheaper and make it better. On ebay they sell weaver kits you need to assemble for about 10-20 dollars. All you have to do is glue one or two things. They come without trucks and couplers. I buy weaver’s best die-cast and for under 30 dollars, I have absolutely awesome cars.
Their service is awesome, and they’re made in USA…a big plus for me.

The PS-2-CD 4740 Cu. Ft. 3-Bay Covered Grain Hopper is a very sturdy and heavy car that operates best on Die-Cast Trucks, the plastic trucks can not take the weight.
The PS-2-CD 3-Bay Grain Hopper from Weaver Models is worth getting.]
The 50’ Plug-Door Boxcar is right for modern railroad equipment operators.
The ACF Center Flow 4-Bay Covered Hopper is one of their first models. It is very fragile. The side curvature is not as rounded as an actual ACF Center Flow Hopper. Now that Lionel is making the metal ACF Center Flow 3-Bay and 4-Bay Covered Hoppers in China, will Weaver make more faithful and durable models of other common ACF Center Flow Hoppers like the 4600 Cu. Ft. Capy. Car, or discontinue the car?

The Weaver Models Die-Cast Trucks are made in China, but they do allow the cars to run better than the Plastic Trucks.

I’m trying to run new Weaver club cars with Lionel, MTH, and Williams and the couplers don’t line up, they are too low, the cars separate, they do not uncouple, any suggestions?
I have two run great but the 0-8-0 switcher has a bad smoke, slueth unit, that doesn’t work but the NPR Hudson runs great NO PROBLEMS.

If you run conventional, aren’t into all the new sounds and command control stuff, 300 bucks for a brass Weaver is a very good deal. They sold for around 800 bucks new 15 years ago. If you like the looks, he claims everything works, and he has strong posative feedback, Go for it!! You can tell your HO friends you are into O scale brass. You can always add command control and sounds later.
