Webshots and Photo Posting on this forum

Would somebody that uses Webshots for photo hosting care to enlighten me as to how to post a photo here. I have tried for 3 days now and been unsuccesfull. I almost made it work, I could get a thumbnail to show up in the preview your post window but when I would actually post it , it wouldn’t show up at all. Tim

One easy way to post photos that can be clicked to a larger size is to first upload it to something such as www.photobucke.com , which is free, then check the box under the image. Near the bottom of the page there should be a button that says “Generate HTML and IMG Code”. Click on that. The next page should have different choices of code. I prefer to use the “IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended” section. Simply highlight, copy, and paste the desired code into the text box here on the forums. The picture will only ‘expand’ to the size it was uploaded as originally.

As an example here’s one of my HO projects:

I hope this helped. If not, PM me and I’ll try to help.

CNW, I’m not sure if you know but Webshots is Desktop software and a photo hosting website. I need some specific info pertaining to Webshots.com and how to photo post from that website, I have a ton of photos hosted there and really don’t want to move them to another hosting site. Tim

Tim,

The problem with Webshots is the way they link the photos. I just signed up to see how compatible thier site is with this Forum’s software…here’s my attempt at simply using their code:

Now, if I strip out all of the extra tags Webshots puts in there:

While it appears to work, the picture doesn’t automatically enlarge to the correct size to match what I uploaded. On Photobucket, the pictures will enlarge to their uploaded size when you click on the picture here in the forum.

Here’s my Photobucket version:

Don so it would appear that it can’t be done with webshots as photohost? Tim

Tim,

It’s much easier using the Photobucket.com website. On Photobucket, you can specify what size you want the photo to upload. When you upload a picture and then look at the picture in your album, there are 3 lines of code directly under each picture. The last line of code is the [ IMG ] data that this forum prefers. I simply highlight that line of code and paste it inot a post or a reply and it works great. There are users on the forum that are having problems posting photos with Internet Explorer 7.0 as their browser.

I hope this helps.

That’s what I was getting at, but without the vagueness! Sorry! I tried using webshots but the size thing didn’t work for me so I switched to photobucket.com.

Well thanks guys for the wakeup call. Looks like I’ll be moving my pics to Photobucket Thanks again Don and CNW Tim
