Weekend Photo Fun 10-12 July 2015

Gidday All, well it’s a cold clear Friday night, it will freeze again, but the fires cranked up and all’s well in the Bears Den.
Have got to the painting stage with the Athearn BB 2 dome tank car kitbash.

Looking forward to the really Good Stuff,
Have a Great One Ffolkes,
Cheers, the Bear.[:)]

Bear,

That car is coming out well.[tup] Beautiful sky as a backdrop, too[:D]

Been a bit under the weather and then again busy with editing myself, so not much new to see other than some action out on the line. I found a location for my assay office at the Outlaw Mine. Now all I need is some track.

Added some cautionary signage around the overhead crane up in Animas Forks at the Gold Prince Mill.

Adjusted the foundation and location of the telltale on the tunnel that represents the connection to the Rio Grande Southern. I’m thinking about filling in some rock at its top to give some better visual cues.

And ran a standard gauge local because customers are wandering where their shipments are in the 6 months since it last ran…[:P]

Here is the On30 18’ pulpwood rack that I built last week alongside the 18’ reefer kit that I built this week. The reefer is on temporary HO trucks until my Grandt Line trucks show up in the mail.

Hobbez … I like the On30 freight cars …

Bear… The kit bash tank car looks great.

Mike L … Nice work. Your freight train reminds me of some I saw in Colordao the the 1960’s.

Below is an Atheran Genesis F3 - phase 4 .

This week I completed 3 motorcycles for Boothaby Railway Village layout. They are from JL Innovaitive; the green one is a factory paint; the others started as unpainted metal kits.

Here is a link to a video I made of my Kit Smashed bascule bridge in operation. It was made by utilizing 2 Walthers Double Track Truss Bridges and some styrene.

Nice start to the best thread of the week! Hobbez, I like the pulp wood car.! Mike, Garry, G Paine, David…all really nice looking photos. Will most definitely check out the video David! Here is a Thrall, all-door box I’m adding to the fleet. Hope each of you has a great weekend! Thanks to all for sharing.

I am starting to get my layout rebuilt after moving into a new house a couple months ago. I have a much bigger garage to work with than the old house.

An I-6 M-1 meet on the line.

Bear, Thanks for opening the fun! The natural sunlight, scenic background and crisp air makes for a nice shot of your tank car.

George, I like your Indian motorcycles and riders, “let those who ride decide.”

Considering the time of year I’m reposting an old favorite, “a four man break”, Allez, Allez!

Thanks to all, regards, Peter

David:

That’s really nice! I love the slow action.

Dave

Hi, again everyone. I’m enjoying as always everyone’s photos.

I’ll just add a progress report on the 2nd of two Kato HO C44-9W DCC conversions. I showed work on the first earlier, and completed the LokSound Select install since. All worked out fine, with very nice sound from the 4 sugarcube 13x18mm speakers. And I was surprised to find that the defaults handled the ditch lights from the get-go (should the bell ring also (in additioon to alternate flashing) on pressing the horn?).

Anyway, the first Kato came with the details packaged for buyer install. While slowly addressing that, I’ve started the 2nd conversion. This must be a later run, as the details are factory installed and the ditch lights and number board lighting are differently arranged. So it wll take three 3mm LEDs plus two 0603 SMDs for the ditch lights. I got that done today, plus built the speaker enclosures, which can be slightly larger due to somewhat lower weight heights (after milling off the vertical protrusions).

When I get both completed, I’ll post a video. Not as good as dual 1.1" HiBass (E units), but clearly the best of the sugarcube results I’ve had to date.

As from the factory:

Nice work Paul.

Had to lay low this week. Dds got me for about 2 dcc locomotives worth. [:|]

Bit some gauze and MOH (the better half) made me some ramen. Then I “took it easy” by putting together this branchline blueprint kit I’ve had in reserve.

Pabst ain’t my first choice, or my second, but it’ll do in a pinch.

I brushed on diluted gray acrylic, Brown paint pen on the wheels & trucks, finishing with India ink a few times and a splash of Dullcoat.

Someone needs to call a landscaper to plant some grass!

Peter, nice 4 man break. That’s a nice scene.

Bear, that tank car looks great.

Mike, awesome shots, I’ve always been fond of Rio Grande equipment.

Ted, PBR car looks awesome.

Great photos and progress by everyone.

Here is some shots of my benchwork for my n scale version of the virginian layout. Foam core construction was ideal since I had to make sure I could easily move the layout in my apartment. It is suprisingly sturdy and extremely light. I just finished the elevations. Hope to have some roadbed down in a few weeks.

And for the sake of benchwork not being the most thrilling here is a shot from my old layout. WM 814 exits from I cannot remember what I named it tunnel [:-^]

Thanks Adam.

New benchwork is always thrilling. I’m looking forward to watching your progress. What region will your layout model?

I am freelancing West Virginia and Maryland. I like to run a lot of Western Maryland and B&O equipment.

Looking at the carnage it’s just as well you’re not modelling this years Tour de France.
Great Stuff ffolkes,[tup]
Cheers, the Bear.[:)]
