Weekend Photo Fun. 14-16 September

Gidday All, How time flies when you’re having fun, or so they say, and as it’s now Friday evening then it’s time for another unspectacular start to WPF.

Had time to assemble 2 Accurail stock cars, still have to print the decals.

Decided to take the photo with the cars on the Accurail box. With the “Made in the USA” proudly emblazoned on the lid, I thought it would be a belated and small acknowledgement of 9/11 from “Down Under”.

Have a Good One Folks,

Cheers, the Bear.

Nice lookin cars Bear

I made a couple of track cleaning cars from extra cabeese

the first uses a centerline frame and the caboose body is a perfect fit

the second is a slider type car with a bright boy underneath

Here is the start I have made on Three ExactRail Evans 4780CF Covered Hopper, I am building my own kits to provide paint schemes not offered or incorrect that were offered by ExactRail.

These are all the parts that are included in the kit, hopefully they all fit somewhere!

The weights are gooed into the bottom the the bays, I really like the way the are designed to fit down in the bays offering a good low center of gravity.

I have glued the air reservoirs onto the bulkheads and drilled #80 holes for the air piping that will be going to the triple valve.

Thanks for looking!

Hey Terry

I have the slider type car that I bought, but I use a cloth pad moisten with alcohol that hooks on the two screws.

On the roller car did you buy the roller part? [tup] Very good work.

Have fun

Lee

Great work everybody. I am currently working on a 1940’s LCL container terminal. I am waiting on a beam crane (need to build) and need to expand the platform along with numerous detail parts.

Lee

I bought the whole centerline car and the caboose fit perfectly over top

Has anyone seen DJ (Grampy’s Trains)?

Hi All, Just a quick shot from the phone of a new arrival! Regards, Nigel Australia

Very nice pics everyone.

I haven’t bought anything for quite a while but I saw something at the Boeing club swap meet that I couldn’t resist.

There’s one problem, the wheel base is only slightly longer than the Atlas (dead) frog. The rails better be clean!!! My little MOW truck needs some break in but it will make the trip all the way around the layout. It is DCC. [:-^]

Having fun.

Lee

Got a visit from Chicago!
A pair of Kato F40PH’s in the Metra Scheme.
Weathered the chassis & added Pilot Grabs in the front, Crew Figures & Wind Deflector/Mirrors, but not the top, wanted a clean shot.

The dinner train, about to get underway!

Great work![Y]

Lee,

I’ve been wanting on of those hyrailers, too. I’ve got a Unimog that it will fit perfectly underneath (or at least I hope so. The wheelbase is right… [*-)])

This week’s big project was building three of the old Model Railroad General Store D&RGW #319 Vestibule coach kits. Yes, I do know there was only one car like this, but on my layout additional coaches were updated due to increased postwar traffic. I’ve actually got a brass #319. These will be numbered #316-318, which were either scrapped or sold to Mexico in real life.

Here are the unpainted coaches in the middle of my brass San Juan consist in front of Durango’s station.

I was happy to find that my earlier tuning session worked well. I was able to turn the consist on the loop at Durango, then traverse the branch to Silverton. Turned on the wye there and grabbed another pic of the new, unpainted coaches.

Here is the consist as it pulls into the station at Silverton after being turned.

Finally a pic of 28. She’s just entered yard limits in Durango from the Silverton Branch.

I had one slight derailment on the return trip. Wasn’t paying attention to my slack action on the downgrade and the brass at the end of the train nudged one of the new coach’s trucks off the rails. The cars aren’t weighted yet (they’re half, 1.5oz, the recommended weight, 3oz. I plan to add another ounce to

brilliant pictures, as always gentlemen.

Don’t have anything “new” to share, as all of my stuff is in boxes (sidenote – probably gonna be forced to switch to N scale), but here’s an old shot @ the South Chicago and Indiana Harbor railway (formerly Chicago Short Line)

is the gray and white box unit a transfer caboose ?

Happy Weekend,everyone!

I added the last (3rd) layer of Woodland Scenics Realistic Water to my first attempt at a water feature-a mountain stream.

Garry: I haven’t seen anything from Grampy’s Trains for weeks now - 'hope he shows up soon.

That’s excellent stream modeling, Mike. Great shots from all.

Hand off of steam to diesel. DJ.

The newest addition to my layout, a Railway Express Agency Building.

DJ:

'Good to see your work again! Terrific modeling,as usual.I also like the different lighting effects you use from photo to photo. I was looking back through some of your past posts, when this one caught my eye -

Is that an engine at the bottom of the ravine?

Mike

And here is my favorite DJ post

I feel like I could dive right in.

Can’t go wrong there! Just as I opened this photo Sinatra came on the iPod singing “My Kind Of Town”.

I spent many a morning and evening rush hour behind these bad boys.
