Bear, Thanks for getting another WPF started. The NZR 4-6-2 is a charming locomotive and a right smart piece of modeling.
Finished up another DTD kit. The Campbell’s shingles leftover from the early 90s worked well while providing contrast and an extra rustic look to the “BBQ Shack”.
Well it’s been a good weekend for modelling vicariously, more interesting cars from Rick, Heartland Garrys’ CB&Q action, Mikes extensions to the Cascade Extension, BatmansPink Candy Floss mountains, Lone Wolf and Santa Fes’ California dreaming, Allans’ revamped passenger cars; U boats from both Terry and Jimmy plus Jimmys’ round house work-in-progress bonus; a camelback and lots of white stuff from RDG Casey (aside from not getting the train show, I gather from the radio news that the snow storm in the NE States have claimed a few lives, however with the sun streaming in through the hanger doors late this afternoon and no breeze , 86 + F, this Bear could have done with some cooling); and I suppose that Big Tims doesn’t do Kiwiburgers Peter?
Thank you all for the really Good Stuff.
Cheers, the Bear.[:D]
Red Tailed hawks have mostly white bellies and faces (there is a dark faced variation in case anybody cares). You could put a dab of yellow on the beak and call it a Golden Eagle.
There now! You have been chewed out by an ardent (but admittedly amature) bird watcher![swg][(-D][(-D][(-D]
Seriously, I like what you have done with the figures. Did they come with their heads tilted back and arm pointed or did you modify them?
Great photos guys! CN SD70I ( a refurbished basket case, an Athearn Genisis, 2002 vintage) running light, on a test run, creeps past the Rock Springs station and the local switch job.
After this photo, the old GP9 on the local switch job will be “retired”, because of a motor drawing way too many amps, and replaced with a newer GP38.
Guy, That’s a mighty handsome pick-up. Appears to be a 1948 Ford? Is it 1:87 and may I ask where you acquired it? My father owned one in the early 60s, was just about that color and had one of those old corrugated metal camper shells.
You are right. Although I tried to replicate the picture shown in the Sibley Guide, the paint dried darker than expectated. I’ll send you a pm of the guide picture. As for the figures, they are from Preiser. The one on the right was bought solo. The one on the left was part of a set of train crew.
Peter,
It seems you are right. Classic Metal Works advertised it as a 1951 model. I clearly remenber that because it is the year I was born. But a Google search clearly shows that the real F100 grille for 1951 is quite different than the one on the model. I will edit my data accordingly.
I bough it in a nearby LHS few years ago and Yes, it is 1/87.
