Weekend Photo Fun 4/04- 4/06

I’ve been having fun getting some of my models out of their boxes, Couplers fitted where required and running Trains.

This weekend, the IHB moved into Town with some Transfer Freights and carrying-out some Classification work.

I love having a Train trundling around the Outer Main Circuit, whilst SW1500s do their stuff in the Yard.

Paul. Thanks for starting this weeks WPF

As I shall be away, a picture from the archives –

The signal in the distance shows a train is due and has right of way.

Hi David,
I’m glad the Signal is giving Right of Way to the approaching Train, because the other Locos in the photo seem to have ‘Come a Cropper’.

Have a good day on the ‘Long Drag’, tomorrow.
I am looking forward to the MR Ex. at Shildon, where a brand new box of Peco Code 83 awaits me.
Paul.

Yes. They are in Charlie Marston’s Salvage Yard awaiting the ‘scrapper’s torch’ or a possible purchaser for restoration.

I love the scrap yard. Are the items in the scrap yard old worn-out models? or are they items purposely made for the scrap yard. Been thinking of doing something like this on my layout as a way to use some older out of repair models that I am unable to repair.
Al

Al. Glad you like the scrap yard. I wanted something different to what I had seen already modelled.
The locomotives in the yard are old plastic kits (except one). The one that isn’t is an old body of a broken locomotive.

An innovative way to use some items that would otherwise take space in the parts bin.

Paul, thanks for starting another WPF. Some nice pictures to start the weekend.

Mine is not new, but the buildings changed places. I got them almost intact off the old layout, and they’ve been sitting in a box until I found a spot on the new layout for them. There’s still a lot of vegetation and road repair to be finished on this part of the layout.

Hi all. Some excellent photos here.

I’ve finally got around to weathering the standard-gauge boxcars and putting them on my On30 layout:

I’ve always wanted to have these as part of the scenery. Bought them back when I started in On30. In fact, the standard-gauge bumper post was the first structure I built for the layout. But it was only recently that I figured out how to fit the interchange track - by widening the staging yard and adding scenery to it.

Another strong start to the weekend. Great to see everyone’s layouts and new projects. @HO-Velo, I love the details in your city scene, down to the paper litter in the gutters. @NorthBrit, the contrast between the industrial decay and the vibrant vegetation is always a hallmark of your photos. @South_Bank_Terminal, great to see some operations on the layout. @York1, it’ll be great to see the finished scene and @Jimmy_Braum good to see a couple of projects underway.

This last week I was finally able to wrap up a coal mine and orchard scene in Paonia. While it is spring now, the scene puts me in the mood for some cider. The apples are grapefruit sized for N scale, but they work from a couple feet out.

Your getting to be quite the “Post Hog” Peter! Perfect!

:wink:TF

Nice pictures everyone!

Two items that took a lot of my MR time these last few weeks. The ten-wheeler is a brass loco that was remotored, fitted with a decoder, repainted, etc. I had to fix a short on one of the drivers, which was quite the adventure. Runs nicely now. The other piece is the turntable. It stopped indexing without notice. Calibration stopped working. Cleaned it to death, reset it multiple times, with no success. I knew this day would come… I removed one of the gears, and is now 100% 5 finger crane operated. I actually don’t mind it. It’s a lot faster and my eye is more precise.
